Some hip shakin' blues, different versions:

And some rather understated guitar licks by the great Peter Green:

In it is death and all you seek

Cool scheidt Hawk, some of my favorites;

Since we seem to be on a rock/blues excursion now:

Two of the best ever (and the drummer did a great job too)

Is this blues, Neil.

I used to walk those rows too, Neil, busting those clods, too, with my own bare feet, behind Grandad and ole Bill.

Saved that years tenners for Sunday and for school after summer and heaven were over. It sure would have been nice to wear them at night when following the black and tan into the East Texas thickets after a possum or coon that had upset the chickens. Those blackberry vines that got between the toes got some real cussin. There was a ubuquitous green vine that was totally worthless that was miserable too.

I would have welcomed the thought they would have offered some protection against a snake bite. Fortunalely Grandad seemed to spot them all, as he was the only one of the me and my cousins crew of Luther, Chick, Sammy and Johnny who had a flashlight. Dont grab it either and shine someone in the face to blind them without risking a knot on your head.

We went ahead of ole Bill though, to turn those vines back ahead of the plow in the potato patch. Had to get that done in the morning before the sandy loam got too hot. It felt good to get those feet under the shade of the potato vines or the shade of a tree looming over the road after a mad dash across burning sand on the dirt road back to the house for lunch we called dinner with cornbread, turnip greens, purple hull peas, creamed corn, cold peeled and sliced tomatos, boiled okra, new potatoes in cream sauce, sliced cucumbers, fried chicken, tea....
