Caught in the act just feet from the garage door. Came through with 3 buddies a couple days ago, but running solo this morning. With a month left for antler growth, he just might turn into a fine buck. Sadly no tag for my home unit.

Just short of ripening, so I hope he leaves us a few.

Here's a link to the same critter when Cookie caught him in the back yard in May. The tick has moved on but the small notch on his left ear helps with identity.

Have a good one,

Yes. At $3.00 a lb, I'm not sure I want him to stick around.

He sure has turned into a nice buck - you are lucky to have them in your back yard and get the fantastic pictures. Thank you for posting and yes good luck on your elk hunt.

Here's the second of the trio. I was out knapping a couple arrowheads and he just walked in to about 10 yds. This one has a right ear than hangs slightly below level. Otherwise he's a pretty close match to the first.

Third member of the party is a forked horn we've not bothered to photograph yet. We'll probably pick the fruit in a day or so, and they'll have to wait for apples to ripen after that. They also have a fondness for the apricot leaves when they get frosted and start falling in the fall.

Archery season opens in a couple weeks, so it will be interesting to see if our urban neighbors can resist the temptation.

Have a good one.

Great pic, I love deer pics. We saw a great whitetail buck in Hill City South Dakota last Wednesday on the 1880 train ride to Keystone.

Apricots are picked but they're still swinging through hoping we missed something. He'll probably start stealing plums (right center edge) next. Walked up within about 5 yds of me as I was sweeping the garage apron this morning. Looks to be dropping more of his summer coat and should start shedding velvet in a couple weeks.

Throw him a piece of bread, see what he does.
