Hi. I recently read that it’s recommended the knobs be adjusted all the way back and forth to distribute lubricant in order to help them work correctly. Would it be recommended regardless of a scope’s age if one intended to use the adjustments in the field?

Wouldn't worry about it unless something weird happens the next time you go to adjust it.
