I use RL-17
Works great in my rifle.
You'll need to work up a load in your gun. I think, I used 55 grains (off the top of my head)
I'll Look for a photo. I found an old one. This load shoots great in my rifle. It's like those bullets are on auto pilot to your target.

I used 54gr IMR 4350/Sierra & Speer 200gr for years. I never got to kill anything with them nor check their speed. I later ( in 2006 I bought a Mod 700 CDL to celebrate the old Warhorse) in that rifle I used R22 and the Nosler 200PT. I have loaned that rifle/load to a friend who shot a humongous hog with it. Like the proverbial hot knife through butter it was! I have also used R15 behind the Woodleigh 240gr. That's also a thumper. I have seen more 168 TSX and TTSX kill more game out of the '06 and it is wicked too. I think sometimes we miss a lot of what a rifle will do when we do not use the heavy for calibers bullets. That's just me though. I like to "thump them".

I settled for a mere 2600 fps via H4350 with mine. That 200 gr Nosler was very accurate, and it was easy to make hits at 300 yards. Recoil was mild.

Recovered from a grizzly shot at less than 40 yards:

Oh, it also opens up readily on something as light as a wolf.

I was so impressed with the load and that bullet that I darned near made it my standard 30-06 load. Except that I've got hundreds of 165 gr Noslers on hand and they work just fine too.

Thanks HD- nice shooting. That motivates me to try that combo and also with the new Federal Edge TLR 200grainers that just arrived at my door

H4831SC loaded for 2625 fps has been great on my last two bulls.

The 200 grain Partition is one of my favorite bullets. Looks like it does pretty well in the 06 case.

Joel - out of curiosity - what do you have in mind for your 30-06 & 200 gr Partitions? That's a great cartridge/bullet combo.

Have been using H4831 for many years, at first the old mil-surp powder but in the last couple decades the Extreme powder made in Australia, H4831SC. 59.0 grains of my present batch gets just under 2700 fps, with 3-shot groups averaging around .6 inch at 100 yards.

I have been playing with R26 and 200 Partitions in my new 30-06 recently. I get 2775 fps and .600" accuracy using 60.5 grains in Lapua brass. It appears to be a reasonable load pressure wise as primer pockets have remained tight after 10+ firings.

Chet,

I am getting like velocities in my 24" Barrel on my Kimber Select with that same combo, albeit in Nosler brass.

I have made the 200 grain partition my standard 30-06 bullet paired with RL17.
Accuracy and speed is great.
For my rifle the most accurate load is 2650 FPS.

Have fun!

PS, am using Lapua brass and competition shell holders when reloading 06 with 200 partition and RL17.
Only bump the neck back between one-to-two thousandths, and the brass gives me many reloads.
It’s only a guess on my part, but I think the Lapua brass is a big contributor to the accuracy I’m getting.

That right there is one good darned load. A guy couldn't ask for too much more especially with the NF on top..
