Ok, ran by my LGS today and found a really nice used Nylon 66 sitting on the shelf. I have had one in Apache Black since I was 2 (first gun). The strange thing about this one is it is in Mohawk Brown with the Chrome receiver and barrel. Never have I seen one in this configuration, nor can I find any info on it on the webs. I almost believe someone might have swapped out the stock into a Apache Black for some reason, but the screw heads look untouched....not conclusive but leading in the least. Here are a few pics, best I can manage on a long gun in the house with a camera phone. Any info you gun experts might have would be appreciated. Bought it as a user since my other is semi-retired. Nothing on the receiver or the barrel. Not going to remove the stock to check at this point.

Was able to determine this was made in 11/1965, so no serial number prior to 1968. But still an interesting non-cataloged combination. Turns out the gun I bought to shoot today is actually 5 years older than the one I was looking to retire.

I've not seen that combination before. Pretty cool.

Sounds like a non-cataloged configuration, maybe a factory built limited run or maybe a parts gun put together outside of the factory.
It wouldn't be too hard to swap the barrel and receiver cover.

Good chance someone changed the stock. They can be broken and a Apache Black used stock would probably be about impossible to find. Pre internet it took me about 6 months to find a used 66 stock to replace a broken one I bought at a yard sale.

Hope it runs right. They can be an adventure to reassemble from a complete teardown.

Runs great, and best I can tell, the screws have never been touched by a screwdriver. Took it out and terrorized some jugs in the trash pile already.
