I got the worst case ever a few years ago. Ankles to mid foot were one solid chigger bit.

Maximum Strength Aspercreme with Lidocaine takes cares of it really well.

If I ever win the Mega-lotto thing I am going to invest at least half in the eradication of chiggers. I hate the little bastids!

I'd never had them until going to Camp Gruber for training.

Between the ticks and the chiggers and the rain that was probably the worst training exercise I've ever been on. If it wasn't raining it was hot and muggy.

You don't know misery until they get you on the dick & balls.

Had 'em quite a lot over the 35+ years since moving to Texas. They leave a saliva tube which causes the immune response which causes the itching.

Got no answers, I just scratch 'em bloody, prob'ly scratching the tube out.

Chiggers and Fire Ants, just part of living down South. Neither are a problem up north.

That actually does nothing since the bug aren't there.

They bite, feed, and drop off.
The sores and itching are a reaction to the bites.

BS. The fingernail polish DOES stop the itching.

I concur!

Did get the little bastards once here in northeast South Dakota. Never had them or ticks here when I was a kid.

On that saliva tube thing, I wonder how a piece of Gorilla Tape would work to remove them? It has a thicker layer of stickum than regular duct tape.

They are bad here in the hills. Treat clothes with permanone. Wear rubber knee boots to minimize them getting on you. If they do don't scratch them. If you don't scratch the sores heal in a couple of days. If you scratch they last up to a couple of weeks.

Listen to this guy^^^^^^^ he has now been made a believer laugh

Chiggers only get on people who have never had them before.

BECAUSE, if you've EVER had them, you fuggin learn to never go back into thick brushy areas during summer and fall months without mulitple prophylactic measures.

If you've gotten them more than twice, youre just stupid.

I posted my best advice on last week's chigger thread.

I bought this for my GSP because he had ringworm on his undercarriage and it worked.

Douxo Chlorhexidine PS + Climbazole Shampoo

But - a few months ago chiggers were tearing me a new one so I grabbed a washcloth and scrubbed my legs with it and it worked. I can't explain it, but it worked.

Why did I scrub my legs with pet shampoo? Because soaking them with kerosene and setting them on fire seemed a little extreme.
