Went to our local Ace hardware this morning to pick up some .17 hmr. They usually have it for a decent price. When I arrived at the "hunting aisle", both sides of the entire aisle were gone. All the campware, ammo, arrows, archery equipment, scent... everything was gone. I asked a male employee if they quit selling ammo. He responded "unfortunately, yes".
I then went to Wal Mart. Everything was rearranged and they did have arrows and ammo, etc, but all the camping equipment was gone. Weird. These are the closest two stores with anything outdoor related. They are about 19 miles away. We live way out in the country as God intended. 😁

Friend of a friend has an Ace or True Value. Can’t remember which. He’s got more guns than most gun stores in the racks. Refreshing.

Our Ace is packed full of everything outdoors. Most people in town go there instead of Walmart.

None of ours 5 locations have ever had ammo or sporting goods except for a spinning display of some cheap Chinese camo knives, gloves, compasses, umbrellas, etc. One recently got rid of the kitchenware aisles.

The local Ace Hardware started sells firearm several years ago. They have expanded that are quit a few times, and increased the ammo, reloading, everything! I bet their firearm sales are matching the rest of the store!

The local ace hardware near me locks up screwdrivers because of theft. Walmart was locking up razors too. Cameras everywhere.

As a child, elementary school age, my father would send me to the store to buy him cigarettes. Things really changed.

They've been sucking ever since they went PC with that "helpful hardware FOLKS"

Used to be helpful hardware man with big tiddy suzanne somers stickin em out there.

hell with that 2-bit wannabe place, True Value was gay too

I say that from a regional perspective, they've never sold firearms or ammo here. Just caulking and garden spades.

Where? Our local Ace stores have an excellent gun department. Sometimes their prices on ammo and loading supplies beat Sportsman's Warehouse.

Saw on the news yesterday somewhere that Walmart plans to continue selling guns & ammo. I’m shocked they haven’t pulled them already.

It's a true value . The gun shop as such is truly a separate business it's just under the same roof.

They know there will be some runs on the market and are probably sending extra stock already.

ACE hardware stores are independently owned. My wife went to high school with a guy who's father owns 5-6 of them within a 50-70 mile radius. There are 3 locally, all owned by different people, none are exactly alike.

Walmart has been trying to get out of the outdoors gear business for a while now, at least in many of their stores. They don't sell enough to be profitable in many places and the shelf space can be used for more profitable items. Both of ours still sell guns, ammo, and other outdoor gear, but both have remodeled in the last few months and the outdoor sections are much smaller. It really depends on the location. We've had 2 Cabelas, a BPS, and an Academy Sports open within 35-40 miles. That has hurt outdoor gear sales in all the Walmarts in this area.

Another factor is that Toys R Us closed. Walmarts toy sales have seen a huge increase in sales since. They are making more room for toys.

One nearby Walmart has a well-stocked reloading section in the Sporting Goods department. They're still selling long guns, but the handguns went away long ago. They still escort gun purchasers out of the door with the firearm in a hard case, however. The last time I bought one there, I made it a point to give the manager hell about that, and also showed him a glimpse of my CCW. Not his fault- - - -"company policy!"
