Best one out there? NOCO? How much power do you carry as backup?
What do you have in your off-road kit for battery backup?

I have an Antigravity XP-10. They're kind of pricey but are supposed to start any of the current diesel pickups. I've started a number of cars with it but haven't had the need to try it on a diesel. When I got it, it was top of the line. A lot of others have come on the market since then and I don't know which is best.
The XP-10 is handy for recharging phones, etc. However, if you overdue that, it might not have the power left to start your truck.

Antigravity XP-10 here. Have used it to start a Ram diesel, no problem. Comes in very handy, especially for a dead battery in a vehicle parked in a garage, where another vehicle can't be put in position to charge with jumper cables.

I put a second battery in my offroad truck that is disconnected from the main battery when the ignition is off. Gives a nice little buffer. I usually carry a jump starter that I got from costco, no idea what brand. I've used it to jump lots of vehicles, but it won't do the diesel.

I have one from costco. Very handy works well, recharges easy, multiple jumps per charge.

For some reason it seems weird to jump a vehicle with it then charge it back up with the same vehicle. One of the best things to carry in a vehicle.

Have four of 'em.....minimum 600A

GooLoo....DBPower etc.....$65-70...Amazon

NoCo's have a good reputation......but usually $35 more

For the cost of them....its foolish not to have one in each vehicle

Yeah, they're stuffing a lot more amps in them since I got my XP-10. It's 650A vs 2000 for the NOCO.

So far, I'm very impressed with the NOCO GB70. I charged it up slowly with the USB, and have used it to charge my phone three times while boondocking at camp. Never came off full charge green light! Nice to know I have such a powerful backup ready at a moment's notice to jump the truck or provide emergency lighting for the camper.

Well worth it!

The specs on the NOCO GB70 say it'll start a diesel up to 6.0L. Most of the light truck diesels are larger than that. Has any tested one on a Cummins 6.7 or a Ford 7.3? It's triple the Ahrs of my XP10 but the XP10 specs say it'll start any of the pickup diesels.

A lithium battery jump starter rated at 2,000 Amps (15,700 Joules3S).
Spark-proof connections and reverse polarity protection.
Recharges USB devices, like smartphones, tablets, and more.
Power 12V devices anywhere, like tire inflators, power inverters, and more.
400 lumen LED flashlight with multiple modes, including SOS.
Jump starts gas engines up to 8 liters, and diesel engines up to 6 liters.
Provides up to 40 jump starts on a single charge.

I’d be interested to know this too. I have a 6.7 power stroke and I’m in the market for a jumpbox. I’m in the process of updating my truck and a reliable jumpbox is on the list. Spending $300 for something I may never use kinda sucks (just put 2 new batteries in the truck last week). Do these jump boxes go bad after a few years?

If it's still at 88% after a year, you have no complaints. Lithiums are famous for long shelf lives.

I also have the one from Costco and it works well but remember to keep it charged, mine sat unused for over a year and when I needed to use it barely turned over the V6 I was jumping. Now I pop it on the charger ever so often just to be sure.

Had the same issue with the older big ones, when needed a co-workers big unit barely got the job done because it has sat in his trunk for 2 years...

It's no different than a spare tire. You have to check them occasionally as both air and power will leak out over time whether used or not.

I was working on my pickup today and tried out my Antigravity XP-10. The pickup is a Dodge 6.7 diesel. I fully charged the XP10 then disconnected both batteries and gave it a try. No go. The starter just clicked. I looked at reviews on it on Amazon and others said that after a few years, it will lose power. I've had mine for 3 or 4 years now so maybe it's getting weak from lack of use. It's supposed to put out 600 amps but it can't be nearly that high.
