Aimpoints can be left on for years without a battery change. To be super safe, just change it for a fresh one every January 1st (You can also store a spare battery in the battery cap). Much better quick sighting mechanism than standard aperture sights, and an AR equipped with one can be dropped from a chopper and still work fine, with no POI change. Nothing wrong with sticking to the standard sights, though. With practice, they can be quickly deployed to great effect. Just not as good as an Aimpoint red dot.

How about this conundrum?

I have one AR, Mil Spec. Should the next be Mil Spec too, or Commercial? Pistol maybe, lightweight open sights, maybe carry handle.

Always go mil spec. This way all parts are compatible.

I've never been the least bit interested in AR's. Still not.

That's about it, the way most use the term, and how I was using it. But you could go into other specs, too, like the bolt carrier, for example.

Find a good price on Colt 6920's, buy as many as you care to buy and can afford to buy. Same with 20&30rd mags. Find a good price on bulk ammo and stock up in the same manner. If you're investing buy stripped lowers. If it's like the last time you'll be able to buy parts kits no problem. Best return on investment will be stripped lowers and pre ban magazines.

*Edit to add*
Don't forget thick skin for all the insults hurled at you about being a gouger by all the dumbasses to stupid to stockpile right now while we're in the midst of the biggest buyers market ever.

Though I asked, I am likely buying PSA kits.

No reason to complicate it.

No reason to complicate it. Light and simple is good.

The military was my first time using them.

Looks like it has no full length top rail, and no front sight on the gas tube. That means you are forced to either get a full length rail installed or only use an electronic or optic sight.

I bought last week when they had freedom 16" uppers for $199.00 and complete lowers for $109.00
$309.00 for an AR......these are the good old days.

I only bought 'em because my "several" Colt 6920's were lost in that terrible boating accident.

Now is THE time to BTFD (buy the [bleep] dip) in gun prices. Reloading components, loaded ammo, hi cap mags etc.. these are the days you'll look back on and wish you'd stocked up.

Just curious..

What would you call the last 15-17 years?

I bought one after whatever happened late 2016 or early 2017... Not a cheap one, FN15. Shot a little and put away.. Then got the suppressor recently. My interest has peeked. Have a Leupold, the horror, I know, I know, 1-4 Heavy Duplex on it. Darn fun. Darn lethal.

I've got the FN15 "handgun" with brace.

Yep. They called it a "going overboard" sale. No real use for a cheap AR, but for that price?!

Good stuff.... Mine's the cheapest FN15, with Magpul plastic but sure don't mind it. I think a PSA pistol will be the next. Kinda brokeassed and wishing I'd done it already. Hate to have fight zombies with my 722, 5 at a time.

They've got enough rail to mount a scope.
