I’m looking for an older lever action, to be used for hunting. I’m not necessarily looking for something in collector condition, but an older gun with “character”, dents and nicks in the wood, patina on the metal, etc. Myself and a couple buddies have started doing a late season Antlerless hunt every winter, using old lever actions. I’ve got a Winchester 94 30-30, but I’m looking for something like a 32-40, 38-40, 44-40, etc. kind of a throwback of sorts. I’ve got a couple model 70 classic featherweights, a semi custom .257 Roberts, optics, possibly a few pistols, etc. that I can offer for trade. So if you’ve got a good functioning, well cared for lever gun you could part with, and are up for some trading, let me know.

These hunts are a lot of fun. Our Pennsylvania camp did one with military rifles. Springfields, Mausers, Arisakas, and Krags ruled the roost in this hunt. It was an annual tradition in our camp for decades.

Thanks for the offer. I’ve got the savage 99 avenue covered. I’m looking more for a Winchester 92 or 94, marlin 1894 etc.

I've got a sneaky suspicion that what you want is more than you think it is. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...s/13954245/all/wts-winchester-1892-44-40

It’s not, but thanks for the tip. I’m well aware of what they cost, and already talked to that gentleman. His ad states he’s not looking for trades, so that doesn’t make it an option at this time.

Yes, the classics are crf. The classic featherweight is 7mm-08, and I have a classic compact in 308 with a hart barrel, factory barrel profile duplicate, barreled action coated in matte duracoat, original walnut compact stock.

Good luck sir. 'Seems like there ought to be an old 25-35 or maybe even a 25-20 or 32-20 out there somewhere.

Something like that is exactly what I’m looking for. The couple days that we do those antlerless hunts are one of my favorite hunts of the year!

Those are some of the best hunts. Not exactly the same but I do that squirrel hunting - I’ve killed squirrels with every rimfire I own, including handguns and an old Remington 1905 rolling block. Also 32-20, 25-20 and 256 wm.

What do you think about a MODERN lever action? Maybe a Marlin 336 30-30 Stainless with a beautiful walnut stock and Skinner peep sight?

Sounds like you'd have one or two things I'd be interested in.
