I think I’m going with a my Leupold 2x7 on my new 59 Featherweight. Want to keep the scope as low as possible. Which bases and rings are you using? Please post pics.
The rifle ended up being much nicer than anticipated. So it deserves good glass.

I like Leupold dual dovetails. And Talley originals and the old Buehlers if you can find them... Buehlers Leupold D,D. Talleys

There's a set of Warne Premiers in the Classifieds (not mine).... Warne M70I do have a one piece windage adjustable base/ring set (Leupold?) I just pulled off a pre-64 and a set of Talleys like irfubars above I could be talked out of. PM me if interested

The Warne Premiers would be perfect on that gun.

What Poconojack says! The Len Brownell styled Warne Premiers are as nice as it gets. If the rifle is as nice as you describe, step up & pay the price, they are that nice!

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Good choice of scope and will serve your purpose well. Another vote for DD low's as already suggested.

Hmmm, I’m not that familiar with the pre-64s. The 2-7s have kind of a short tube I think. Would he have to use an extension base on the front for DDs?

leupold DD's or talley Lwts would be my top choice, but if you want to class it up a bit more, I have Conetrol's on my 300 H&H and I like them a lot.

I’ve used them on my Ruger 77’s , both roundtop & flat top. They are of Len Brownell’s design that he used on his custom rifles & upon his passing, his estate sold the design rights to Jack Warne. These, like Buehlers don’t leave scope tube marks! Conetrol, Talley, Buehler & Warne are the classiest of all the mounts available.
