Not very good pictures, but does this stock look like it's been refinished? It seems too glossy compared to my Standard 1949.

Stock may have very well been refinished when the pad was added.

It doesn't really matter if it's been refinished. The recoil pad did it in for any collectors value..

Oh yeah, I'm just curious. This is my first Featherweight. It's a 30-06, I'm going to put a Burris Fullfield II on it, going to try the Talley lows. I'm really looking forward to shooting it

I think you will. I have a later model myself that had a shortened stock. Swapped it for a Compact EDGE and man, what a svelte rifle. Good luck with it. Looks great and should hunt great too.

It appears to be a nice rifle. I think you will be happy with it. Has it been glass bedded or freefloated? On a rifle with a recoil pad added, it's always fair game to do those things and then you get good consistent accuracy too. Win win....on your win.. grin

I haven't taken it apart yet but I'll check it for bedding.

Bedding and a good freefloat really wake these things up.

Even with crap bullets like the el-cheapo winchester powerpoints... They print to the same place as my 180gr. partition load. I actually use the same seater die setting too... I've used the powerpoints on deer and the partition on elk and you don't have to change a dang thing, except for ammo. Its convenient that way..
