A New Species of Leech Is Discovered Near Washington, D.C. slashdot

And surprisingly it's really a leech animal, not a political animal!

hate them friggen things. a few years ago i was fishing a good hole but had to stand calf deep in leaf mud to hit it. i was banging the smallies left and right for an hour or more. when i came out of that mud i had about 10 of them things hanging off me. didn't even feel them. pulled them off and i bled like a stuck pig for a while. i'm talking streaming blood. it was bad. and then the wounds started itching and drove me nuts for weeks. i still have scars on my legs that look like i got shot with a bb gun.

Gottta wonder, was the name the gave it a dig at DC and how phony politicians are? wink

led Phillips and the other scientists to name the new species Macrobdella mimicus, after the Greek word for "imitator" or "actor."

Oops, sorry. Underlining the headline is confusing.

Leeches make good bait But bait leeches eat decayed vegetation. Still creepy to grab one and no sympathy when you run the hook through it. Would be the same for political leeches which make DC infamous, I suppose.

As it was discovered near Washington D.C. they should have named it " Parasitus Politicus" in honor of all the other parasitic bloodsuckers found thereabouts.

Probably been there, just now discovered. Kinda like the Deep State.

My suggestion for a name, Deep State Blood Suckers.
