ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - A float plane crashed and overturned at Lake Hood in Anchorage on Monday afternoon.
According to Airport Police, the plane crashed on takeoff on Gull Island, a strip of land in the middle of Lake Hood. Images show the plane on its back with floats in the air.

The sole occupant was transported from the scene by the Anchorage Fire Department with minor injuries.
According to a witness, emergency personnel had to free the pilot from the cockpit, but the pilot was able to walk into an ambulance without assistance.
