How are these rifles? LGS has one, New Haven made, in 30-06. It looks like it hasn’t been shot much at all. Has leupold bases and rings on it. I can get it for less the $400.
I had one in 7 wsm awhile back I bought used for less than $400. I did a little bedding on the stock and it shot most of my reloads moa or less. Had a friend of a friend that wanted it for more than I could pass up and let it go.
One of the cheaper Model 70 offerings, but a good rifle overall. just not fancy. Bought one locally for $225 with a camo paint job. Cleaned it up, bought a new Stock from CDNN for $35.00. Took it out and it was a shooter. MOA with several loads. Gave it to my SIL for Christmas. Any Model 70 in good shape is worth $350+. I got lucky, but it was messed up with the camo job.
Yep pushfeed and I believe that they were sold by Walmart. Black coating and a synthetic stock. Bought a FW synthetic, stock bedded it and it turned out to be a good deer rifle. SIL has taken a few deer with it.
If it has an extractor like a Pre 64 Model 70 or a Mauser 98 it would be a controlled round feed, just the bolt visible then a pushfeed. The barrels are different between the two.
The was the Controlled Round Push Feed (CRPF) in the early 2000's. It did not have the long extractor like the Pre-64 type. It looked a lot like the push feed bolt with a section of the bolt face ring milled away. Attached is a picture. (if I did the attachment correctly)
The Wal-Mart ones don't have Black Shadow on the barrel stamp, and there may be other differences. My Wal-Mart one is one of my most used rifles. Scoop that one up.
Brushbuster: "Is this thread about the dear heard or there Jeans?" Plugger: "If you cant be safe at strip club in Detroit at 2am is anywhere safe?" Deer are somewhere all the time To report a post you disagree with, please push Alt + F4. Thank You.

No the CRPF is a complete different design without a claw extractor.

That is the bolt it has. The “controlled push feed”
IIRC the controlled round push feeds were only made for the WSSM cartridges. They were so short they had trouble getting them to feed in regular CRF actions.
Winchester has had several different "Shadow" versions going back 20+ years. They were all the budget guns, some were PF some were CRF. I can't keep up with all of the different versions they made.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
The Walmart guns had a blind magazine and came in 270, 30-06. 7mag and 300 mag only. They are pushfeed but have the old style Winchester triggers. Their only downside is the plastic trigger guard and magazine follower. They are usually good shooters and a great value if you can get them for $350 or less.
