Usually in the form follows function camp for my rifles with only occasionally getting the stock colored or something.
Well I bit the bullet and made a purdy one and the bonus is thus far the function end of things worked out too.
Posted the pics on another forum but didn't post the parts breakdown and such.
Well here is it is:
Tikka Action (bought a used 270 WSM off here and yanked the barrel off)
Proof 22” 300 WSM 1:10 twist Sendero Lite
LRI fluted the bolt
Lumley TI bolt handle and carbon knob
Anarchy 30 MOA rail
Nightforce 4-16X42 ATACR
Southfort Labs Tikka Brush Hunter Stock
Less than 6.1 pounds with the rail on it:
8.2 pounds scoped with the “heavy” 30 oz NF ATACR on it:
A shade under 9 pounds with a TBAC ultra 7:
Went with 300 WSM so mag length wasn’t an issue, space for days:
Haven’t done a whole of load development yet, shoots 212 eldx and 208 ELDM both very well.
Though the ladder work up on the 208s was kinda annoying. First two lowest charges…adjusted the scope right as I can’t stand not hitting what I am aiming at and then the next 5 into a big hole even though each one was a different powder charge. Now what do I choose??
Likely pick somewhere in the middle of those and see how it does…208s at 2930-2950 shouldn’t suck too bad from the 22” tube. Got up to 2990 fps 1.5 grains higher but finally a stiff bolt lift there though no ejector marks.
Still need to work up a 200 Accubond load with it in the next couple weeks so its ready for my Kodiak brown bear tag here this spring.
