I just read that Jeffrey Allen of CDI Precision passed away. I'd ordered bm and mailed a rifle for inletting earlier this week. Yesterday I received a USPS notice that the package was being returned to sender. Tried to call a couple of times yesterday and received voice mail, emailed as well. A search showed the following from Snipershide.

He seemed like a great guy and he did great work on a couple of rifles I'd sent him previously. Sorry for his family.

The website is still up and I did my order online earlier this week. You might want to hold off on any orders. I'm sure his family has enough to deal with....no need to add business issues on top of it.

Again, sorry to hear of his passing and condolences to his family.

Yes, I read the same thing. I had sent an email and got a response from his wife that CDI is no longer active.

Word is that any work that is there is being shipped back to the owners.

This is going to leave a gaping hole in the bottom metal market as CDI stuff is great and his inletting service was an industry standard.

It will leave a hole in the market. He was doing some things few others were. He was crafting bottom metal for a lot of different platforms like the Model 7 and Kimber 84M, etc. The installation for the cost of shipping was a huge bonus. The ability to use flush fit mags like the Curtis Custom was a big pro (for my use). If it was an in the trigger-guard release it would have been the perfect DBM for my hunting....it was certainly the best thing going for a M7 even with the exposed release. He seemed like a great guy as well.

My rifle made it back home, box unopened. I haven't checked my card to see if the online purchase was run.
