What if they figure a way to appoint electors that will freely vote against their state and for their party? Well according to the article, that ruling pretty much states that. This is from CO, where it was a scheme to take an electoral college vote away form Trump.

The constitution doesn't specify how electors are chosen, only that each state will have them. The state is free to choose them any way it wants to. Right now, all states elect them but that hasn't always been the case and it can change.
