No pics here, but good luck. My boys and I are headed up there 2 weeks from today. I got them both archery bear tags and will get them archery elk once we get up there. Great thing about them both being youth is the elk tag is still fairly cheap and they lowered the bear tag cost this year too. This will also be the first time in 16 years that I haven't hunted while up there. My dad and I will just be guiding them.

Colorado is trying to sell a lot of bear tags. Some units do have some bears, but in 40+ years of hunting in Colorado ,never missing an elk season , rifle and muzzle loader, I have seen a total of 3 bears. Can't hunt in the spring now, can't bait, can't run them with dogs. I think their idea is to sell them the same as the required small game license. The more license they sell, the more P&R funds they are eligible for. Just because CPW wants to sell a lot of bear tags, doesn't necessarily mean there are an abundance of bears unless maybe you hunt in Aspen, Vail, west side of Colorado Springs and a few other mountain towns that bears have found easy food pickings

I saw 3 bears last year in Co. There are a TON of bears around. Just have to know how to find them. I killed this one last year in Utah on a mountain I've literally witnessed HUNDREDS of bears on. They can be a tricky critter but don't get discouraged. Buy the 2nd tag they'll sell you and kill all you can. Good luck,

Friendly bear, just wanted to eat the fresh green grass: Ya, this fellow and I didn't trust each other. Came across the bear while hiking... Mighty fine sausage from this one: Fair sized Washington bear taken by my son: Best of luck on your Colorado hunt! Guy

Had my hands on a bear that went just a couple pounds shy of 600 in Colorado on Saturday. I always subtract 100 when any hunter mentions a weight guesstimate and refused to go over 450 myself when the guessing games began, even though I knew this thing was a beast, but I didn’t want to succumb to the excitement by resorting to hunter guesses. We did actually weigh him on real scales. Got himself in trouble in a farmers corn field after about 15 years of staying out of sight of guns. Blind in one eye and some busted teeth. Like a beached whale with extra fuzz, 3 inches of back fat above the straps.
