I don't know how or where you hunt. I've had health challenges since brain surgery at the age of 44. That affected my balance enough that dragging a deer would be very difficult. Thankfully I have some great friends that let me hunt on flat land close to their homes and are always willing to help me get my deer.
I also have had Afib for the last 3 years and had the ablation procedure done. I don't know if your a drinking man but my advice is to give it up perhaps with the exception of a fancy dinner out once in a blue moon. Don't ask me how I know...lol.
So I'm still hunting, just doing it differently.

Really glad you went to the doc. Lots of guys don't/won't. I hope and pray your actions will give you the opportunity to hunt many more days in the not so far future! Be well!

First things first. I have missed seasons mostly for wife's health, once or twice for something I did myself. If you can, get refunds, or do as I and take a hit. Better than your last trip ever.
I do not believe the "doing what he loved" stuff. I think no one loves clutching his chest, gasping for air, and throwing up no matter where it is done

I had both cardiac AFib and Aflutter a little over a year ago. Eventually worked through the steps that others have pointed out above. Including the cardiac ablation.
Now on a mess of pills, but my bp is 110/60 and hear rate is a constant 60 bpm.
I'm not as zippy as I was before, but then I've never been 76 years of age before.
Life can be good if you follow the advice of your cardiac specialists.

Been feeling like crap went in to a local Doctor I use for a quick physical, etc. and found my heart is out of rhythm and beating (or fluttering as he put it) at 145 bpm. Today's trip to the regional heart center verified that he was correct.
Doctor 1 immediately started me on blood thinners while today's Doctor 2 added a new blood pressure med that should lower my bpm until they can ZAP it back into rhythm. The only hold up is I need to be on blood thinner for 30 days first which lands on the day I would heading up into the mountains for the start of season. So the PTO I have set at work to hunt will now be days to rest up after being zapped!
He also mentioned about not flying anywhere in the near future and that would rule out the tickets I have already purchased for PA Bear and Deer season at Thanksgiving.
I've missed most of the seasons due to caring for my wife. I get 5 weeks of vacation and I can only scratch together 3-4 days for deer hunting. It is missed, and deeply so. I fear you might slide into depression, which does your heart no good at all. Prayers with you brother.

My lab just had ventricular irregularity, un-timed, and erratic heart beat. They stopped her heart with lidocaine shot I think, she was dead, then they re-jumped her. They said sometimes they won't restart after the shut down shot.
We just took her back in and with the restart, and two different meds twice daily she is in spec.
Vet was 4300, pills 160/month. She spent 3 days at the vet. Probably cheaper than a regular doc.

Sucks. Sounds like atrial fibrillation? The biggest concern with fast / irregular heartbeats is ———-> STROKE. Blood clots can easily form, hence the blood thinner - typically Xarelto or Eliquis. If it is atrial fib you may also be a candidate for cardiac ablation. it is atrial fib Eliquis twice a day I stopped drinking for other reasons BUT Today after a week of my doctors juggling my meds my bpm has dropped to 76!! It had been running 145-150 for a month.

I kept blaming my exhaustion on A. never being 65 before B. Having put on weigh C. Being out of shape I will be following his advice, want to be able to retire and hunt whenever I want.

I took off 20 pounds from 230 to 210 a couple years ago. The difference in ability to enjoy the hunt is pretty significant. So hopefully you can lose some weight as your getting back to hunting goal. I think that will help you out. Good luck.

Sorry to hear this, but your health comes first. Stick with the Dr.’s plan and hopefully you’ll be able to get out sometime this upcoming season, even if it’s just locally. You’ll have more chances to go in the future, but for the short term it’s depressing. Hang in there, and if you need us, we are here.

I had one reduced hunting season because of A Fib but the Ablation procedure fixed that 8 years ago and I went sheep hunting 90 days after. I'm now 77 and flying out next week for two weeks of moose and caribou in the 40 Mile Country.
Watch your hydration and stay off those disease carrying airlines. That's the most encouraging info yet!
