Have a 99 in .250, only thing it will shoot are the Sierra 90 grain HPBT’s. I suspect the twist is even slower than the 1/14 it’s supposed to be. Likes the stubby little 90, that’s it.

I loaded them at 34.5 bullets seated base to junction of shoulder and case neck. Used Nosler solid base, the old real Winchester silvertip. Hornady spire point, Speer and sierra prohunter all 100 grn. 1ST was a winchester M70 with a douglas barrel. No velocity was ever recorded. 2nd was a remington 700.and it would break 2800 not by much.

Both would shoot all these bullets equally as well.

34.5 isn't what I'd call heavy, certainly not in "bolt action only" territory. I wondered if you'd pushed it.

Had a LH short action M700 BDL rebarreled to .250AI and it shot great but went down the road several years ago. This is the only .250 Savage currently in the house. Lipsey's Special #1A with the stock reshaped as an English stalking rifle. Not super duper accurate but it puts five shots into right about an inch, give or take a tenth depending on the phase of the moon. It gets fed Sierra 87 gr. Spitzers with 36.5 grs. RL-15 for an average of 3008 fps, about as close to the original .250-3000 loading as I can get.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

Ruger M77 and I’ve been shooting Hornady 117 gr roundnose over 39 grains of H4831. While the rifle has never been particularly accurate, this load is the best I have found. Thanks to a member here for giving me a heads up

My TC Encore with a custom Sop 250 Savage barrel. Took me 5 years of searching to find this barrel. My Remington 700 Classic in 250 Savage Steve

I have a few dozen rifles chambered in 250-3000. It is a good cartridge, about the same as the 243 performance wise when using comparable bullets.
Most of the 250-3000 rifles older than 50 years have a 1-14" ROT which limits the length/weight of bullets that will stabilize, but most newer rifles, except for the 1986/87 Winchester/USRA 70 Lightweight Carbine, have a 1-10" ROT and will accommodate most any weight/length of .257" component bullet.
The Remington 700 Classic in 250-3000 came with a 24" barrel, so you should be able to squeeze all the velocity that is possible at safe working pressures.
I only have one Remington chambered in 250-3000, a Model Seven with a 700 Classic barrel that was trimmed back to 21" and is part of a matched pair, the other having a 700 Classic barrel in 300 Savage.

Mine is somewhat of a parts bin project that ended up being a rifle I really enjoy.
700 SA Ti stock Douglas #2 contour finished at 21" Tuned/resprung Walker trigger Glass is a 2.5-8 vx3 I have the mate to yours in 700 LA 257Roberts. I kinda like your idea better.

I want a 99 in 250 Savage! Son of a friend of mine had one. He thought it was 'just some old rifle' he had to use because it was all he had. He and I had a five minute talk and I am pretty sure now he will never consider parting with it. Cool factor of 9+ in my book.

I shoot 35 grains CFE-223 + 87 grain Speer Hot Core in my 1918-vintage Savage 1899 M.250-3000, tang sight. Groups an honest 1½ and sometimes a hair better. Load chrono'ed at 3000fps on the nose. I see no reason to push it any faster.
85 grain lead plain based bullet + 5 grains Bullseye is good for around an inch at 50 yards and is a plinker load extraordinaire. No idea of velocity but it ain't much!

Some of mine. Sqweeler, I have an identical RSI. Have you found a pet load that it loves that you'd be willing to share? I haven't got to develop anything for mine yet. TIA
