What tooling precisely would be needed to reload some 10 ga for my new to me BPS 10? Press, dies, wads, hulls, powder, primers, shot? Would like to load some 4,6, or both mixed for turkey only. I have some assorted factory loads but probably would buy new hulls to have all the same empties. The supplier for used Remington hulls was out or might have just bought them as I discovered them. TIA and Be Well. Rusty

I use a MEC 600 Jr for my 10 ga loads in 3.5" mode. I do load some 2 7/8" shells too with smokeless and bp. When loading the bp I use a separate powder measure. I use the derime /resize, reprime and wad start stations . The 2 7/8" hulls are cut down Federal plastics and are roll crimped. Either Ballistic Products or Precision Reloading are your go to suppliers for 10 ga components. MB

I use the 600 like Bob... As for turkey loads.. Nothing I had loaded matched the good ammo from the factory....

I did get some old felt wads for loading the 3.5 “ cases with light loads.. They are a blast to shoot in the 10...

Like the others, I use a MEC 600 Jr. I converted a 12 ga press 30 years ago with a conversion unit I picked up in a clearance bin for $15. The press was $30 as I bought it used. I got my money out of it as I ran through close to a real case (500 rounds, not 250) of shells a year for a decade when lead was cheap but I would not bother reloading if shooting less than that per year as it would take several years to recoup one's investment. For what you are looking to do, the investment money could buy an awful lot of turkey loads. And duplex loads are an idea that has no merit other than to waste components.

Yep 600 jr here too...

The guys over at duckchat.com have a good deal of 10 gauge reload data / information.

I picked up a 10 gauge Browning gold light last year - I’ve never seen a round that can flat out stop a big mallard in mid air, but I have now.
Steel shot wise look for Remington nitro steel, remy has the best hulls...

Swap out what steel shot / lead shot you need or want just match the weight of the load.
you will likely need some felt discs to fill empty space.

Frankly I bought a flat of remy, and a flat of federal perimium steel ...

Also check out a terror tube (choke) all good.

I tried to introduce myself after registering and each time I get a HTTP Error 550. Gave up after a while on the Duckchat. But it is good reading with info on the particulars of loading 10 gauge. I prefer the 'fire at this point. Be Well. Packy

Look up: the refuge. It is the better 10ga reloading site. It also has an active sign up moderator that ok's new accounts promptly. If you are just going to load a few shells a year. A press is not required. A MEC size master and a roll crimp tool in a drill will make perfectly good shells. Ballistic Products has all thing 10ga online. I load Steel shot on a MEC Steel Master press. Federal hulls have the most good data. Remington hulls are the best for waterfowl hunting. I only use Ballistic products TPS 10ga wads. Steel powder. But Blue dot powder has the better lead shot data.

I went to the Refuge Forums and bought a book on 10 Gauge reloading from a guy. It looks to be a good, but small investment. Thanks for the advice. Be Well, Rusty.

The mailman just left the booklet. From The 10gagenut. High Performance Reloading for the 10 Gauge Shotgun. Looks quite thorough to me with photos and lots of data. Tips and tricks for heavy and light or practice loads. A good specialized book from Joe Speroni, another man from the state of Misery. If you want one go to The Refuge Forums and look in the 10 gauge column. Send him a PM and he can set you up to receive his booklet. It is not thick but has most of what you need to reload and some of what to avoid. Be Well, Rusty

I use the TPS1035 wads from Ballistic products. Joe's book has good loads for them. There is a lot of old data for the 10ga. The loads in the book require no further searching. They work. Pick one, Collect the ingredient's. Load them up and go kill birds
