I sold some guns back in the spring and paid for this monster. It showed up this week and I am beyond thrilled with it. The CCH is beautiful as is the wood finish. Function is flawless and I love the execution of the checkering pattern. I ordered a takedown version in n with a recoil reducer and decelerator pad in the stock after talking to Mr. Turnbull about what I wanted. Massive is a fit description for this cannon and I love the feel of the heft of it. It is also phenomenally balanced right in the middle of the action, which is rather impressive given the heft of the barrel when taken apart. Despite it's heft it carries well on a sling when I was checking cattle in the pasture yesterday. This is my first tang sight, and so far I am extremely pleased with it.

I have fired 40 rds of Grizzly 400 grain factory loads through it smoking along at 2200 FPS. The barrel gets fairly hot after putting 20 rds down the barrel in rapid order. I haven't fired it from a bench but shooting off hand it was pretty accurate at 75 yard range I was at. The grizzlies will definitely let you know what you are shooting, but I found them more pleasant to shoot then my 375 H&H, largely due to the heft of the rifle I am sure. I am going to load up some 350 gen bullets in full and some reduced loads Doig suggests. I look forward to using what those grizzly loads do to some wild hogs this fall.

Gorgeous rifle. Forgive my ignorance, do they just continue to oil, oil, oil the stock to get that finish or is there some sort of urethane/clear coat?

I was in Bloomfield, NY (home of Turnbull MFG) the other day so my wife and I stopped in just to say hi. Got to meet Doug (the owner) and chat with him for a while. Such a nice guy and super friendly.

Also got to see one of these beauties in person... totally drool-worthy. You got a gem of a rifle right there. Turnbull is a great company and does great work. Maybe someday I’ll own one!

God bless America.

That's a beauty. I've had the same thought, to sell off some guns to fund one of his creations. That's a spectacular rifle.
