Looking at a M-70 today, push feed, 264.
Sitting in what I think is a Bell & Carlson stock,
Has a 4.5x14 Leupold on it in Leupold/Redfield mounts.
Absolutely no signs it has been fired on the bolt face or the muzzle.
The jeweling on the bolt shows very little wear,
the kind you might get from sitting in a rack in the store.

I know this in not really a collectable, but,
some idea of what it is worth would be appreciated.
I think I can get it for $750.
I know that's a good price for the package, but really don't like the stock.
So, I would have to sell it, and buy something else, probably cost a couple hundred
Plus the B&C.

I see new CRF Featherweights for similar money, minus scope.

If I liked that stock, it would be with me now.

Rifle is probably worth $450.00. Stock doesnt add any value. Ive seen quite a fee 264 pushfeed rifles, so i dont believe they are particularly rare. Is this a sporter, featherweight, xtr or matte finish? There were different variations of the 264 pushfeed. When was the manufacture date? Or at least a partial serial # with accompanying number of digits.

I dont see many 264WM rifles in my area. The last one was a Ruger 77 a few months ago, I see pre 64s more often than post 64s in that caliber, but that is few and far between. I remember seeing a 700ADL in 264 several years ago and I believe that has been the only Remington 700 I have ever encountered. If you really like the rifle make an offer for it without the scope, cant hurt to ask.

Just kidding .... I agree with bsa on this one. His recent post “damn prices are low” suggests we are seeing closer to the same reality. I would say the barreled action is worth $350-$450, stock probably next to nothing to $200 (if it were a new medalist), and scope ... not enough info to say.

You suggest that $750 is a good price for the package - what value do you assign to the scope?

I picked up m70 xtr push feed in a 300 Weatherby with a 3-9x40 IIc on it for $400 bucks. The bottom metal was stainless so it was pieced together. I only wanted the scope, I figured the scope worth $150-$175. I got the rifle cerakoted for $150 bedded it to stock it came in a classic synthetic stock. I would say the rifle you are looking at fair price with scope $600-$650

We have a way of finding good deals, dont we J? I guess when i look at threads like these, i dont think about the $250.00 rifles ive ran across, but what a rifle like this would actually sell for in my area. That price could vary depending on region. For me, however, its hard for me to buy any post 64 pushfeed, because i know walmart sold a lot of them. There were many variations too, and when i see a re-stocked pushfeed, i wonder if it were one of those cheap birch stocked rifles or walmart special. Now, when i run across a pristine xtr featherweight (especially a WRA) for $399.00, that particular pushfeed gets my attention. Im still pissed i didnt buy that one!!!!

I'm probably putting too much on the scope.
And this is why I came here for opinions.
If I really liked it as it sits, I would probably buy.
But, that's not the case.

I agree, also some chambering were made in a specific year(s) in the push feeds. 300 H&H 300 Weatherby were made in 86. 264 I know Winchester made a bunch early in the push feed era 1965. I seen xtr in the 264 as well, but if I were the op I keep my nose to the ground and look for a classic in a 264 they are out there.

My main question would be the design of the shroud - is it the older "cap" style or the newer version? If the former, I'd pass - but that's just me..

See pic #7 - shows the cap style very well.. That's the one to avoid, as far as value goes... FWIW

Question: My knowledge of push feed M70's is very thin. With that "cap" style shroud, one cannot see the striker to know by eye if the rifle is cocked or not?

There is a small "tab" that sticks out from under the cap when the rifle is cocked. You can see it if you look closely at the pictures showing the top of the rear of the action.
