Anyone been scammed when buying a gun here? If so what recourse do you have? I have won a auction on a rifle and in the description it states the name of a dealer so when I asked the seller if he was a FFL he tells me he is helping a friend sell some inventory. So when I mention the dealers name in the description he tells me he copied and pasted the description from another add on gunbroker to save typing. This all sounds fishy to me. How would you try to find out if it is legit?
Thanks

Try contacting gunbroker.

How many sales? How is his feedback? I check that before I bid. I send only certified bank checks!
I’ve bought a bunch on there, never been ripped off yet.

Having bought and sold on there I do pay attention to how others word their ads. I want my bases covered legally when selling so I learn from others. It’s quite possible that he did copy and paste data from another ad.

Could be legit but just a lazy-ass seller.
Got a link to the auction?

He has like 38 transactions with only 1 negative. I don't know how to post a link for the auction. It ended yesterday and I was high bidder but don't want to send money to a scammer.

What's the seller's handle? Or you could just post the auction number.
Unfortunately, the time for asking questions was before bidding. Gunbroker is going to charge him for their cut of the auction price so if you don't pay the only way he could avoid paying their fee is to list you as a non-paying buyer which leaves you screwed and open to having your gunbroker account closed. Even if they didn't it could bite you in the future since other sellers would see that in your feedback and be able to block any bids you make on their auctions.
Most likely he's just a lazy seller. I had someone buy something from me several years ago then I saw it up for sale again with the same pictures I had used in my auction 2-3 years earlier. Not illegal but pretty smarmy and lazy.

Ask to see his FFL. Compare the address to where he wants payment sent to. Problem solved.

Got a link to the auction? This was my first thought.

Highlight the auction number and paste it here. That will allow others to look this guy over.

The last several posts seem to indicate some sort of trend in wanting to actually see the auction you are referring to. Would there be a problem sharing that with us? It seems rather important...

Given the limited information, I'm not seeing a problem. He has good feedback and gave you a plausible answer to your question. As Jim in Idaho said, lazy but not illegal.

Auction number is 829538581, I have done a good many transactions on there and never any problems either. The FFL address and his do not match but in the same state. He told me he was trying to help a friend liquidate inventory. It probably is legit but it seems kinda odd.
