John Sandford is a prolific writer and has several series going. This is one of the Virgil Flowers series in which Flowers, an agent for the BCA, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, in Minnesota is looking for two very rare tigers stolen from a local zoo. The tigers may be sold to a collector, or maybe to another less ethical zoo, or worst of all be harvested for use as an Asian aphrodisiac. The tigers need to be found before they are long gone. The theft was a fairly simple plan and was carried out in the early morning. There are multiple murders as the man behind the plan decide to start getting rid of potential weak links and it's a nice way to spend some time reading this book.
There's quite a bit of information about processing tiger parts for the market that is apparently in existence.
