Anyone fishing for Surf Perch off the Oregon coast catching anything?

Last few times we've been over, we haven't even had a bite.

I know a few weeks ago the perch were in the bays spawning, but we were over yesterday and couldn't even get a bite.

We tried up and down the beach at Sparrow Park road, and tried the bay up by Florence.

Thanks for any feed back!

Very tough down around Brookings, Crescent City, according to Englunds Marine Supply.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

They must still be in the bays spawning.

Will head back over, south of Florence soon, and give it another try.

Bought a new 10.5' Lamiglas pole I NEED to try out.

We got over to Florence, and it was raining, and I forgot my rain jacket.

We had a GREAT shrimp omelette breakfast at The Beachcomber Tavern, and drove back home.

Will give surf fishing a try again soon. And, next time I will "be prepared" with a rain jacket "just in case"

Went back over to Sparrow Park yesterday surf Perch fishing.

I caught one "keeper" size, and my fishing bud caught two smaller Perch.

I also caught two crabs, using my standard perch fishing setup, and released them.

Had three buds who fished the beach at Siltcoose outlet yesterday.

They got seven "keepers" between them, and through back several smaller fish, in about three hours fishing.

Not great, but at least we were catching a few.

Well I tried a few hours at Cannon Beach last Thursday. In no time at all I landed 10 and lost another 5 It was nice and Sunny. So then Saturday I went back seriously this time. Fished hard two hours before Low Tide and then another two hours. I was with another first timer. Rough seas, nice partly Sunny... over 60 degrees. I got knocked over by a rogue wave, traveled a good 50 feet backwards until I was in a foot of water...about then the tide was reversing under me and I just stood up on basically damp sand. Took off my heavy shirt and fished in a long sleeve T shirt until it clouded over. I put on a rain coat and fished another hour. Zip, nada, nothing at all ( two anglers, same beach two days earlier it was good). 'Did not keep any fish Thursday...they were smallish, and did not catch any Saturday. A You Tube guy "PK" has a bunch of SP Oregon videos... I just did what he said (Berkley Gulp 2" sandworms)... try it... no special equipment (nice weather helps).

Berkley Gulp sandworms were what we were using on one hook, and on the other we were using Berkely Gulp sand crabs.

The worms seemed to be working better than the sand crabs.

Will give them another try next time.
