Been poking around on U-Tube about the F-35. It seems that the Israelis have been using them to hit stuff in Syria which are manned by Iranians.... The Iranians are not happy. Even found a report of how three F-35's flew over Tehran and got away with it.... Some reports claim the fighter can spoof or jam enemy radars and they don't even know they are being spoofed/jammed.... Sounds great to me. Hope it's all true. E

I get into some Tit-for Tat with Russians on another forum when I mention US designed planes flown by Israelis get past air defenses sold by the Russians. They claim the Syrians don't have the latest greatest etc...In their defense they likely don't have trained Russians manning them either BUT to my thinking it has been happening since...heck when the Israeli F-16s blew up the Iraqi reactor in 1981. Then there was that North Korean designed reactor in Syria they claimed was a garbage dump - if I recall.
All of this is really hurting Russian pride but more importantly their ability to sell products.

By the way, the distance flown from the UK, around, instead of over France, to Tripoli is almost exactly the same as the distance from the UK to Moscow.

I've not seen any mention of actual "computer chips" being made there, although I have heard about some empty printed circuit boards, which are basically thin rectangles of fiberglass and metal with no components installed.

I was listening to a radio program a month ago. The talk show host said the Honorable Mr. Banjamin Netanyahu claimed their pilots sent the F35 into Iranian territory 3 times last year without being detected. He was glowing like the sun.

We're much better at developing state of the art stuff than they are, but the biggest challenge is keeping them from stealing it. Cybersecurity is a huge issue, as soon as we develop tech the russians and chinese are stealing it and using it for their purposes. Take for example the Chinese Xian Y20 which is almost a copy of the U.S. C17 cargo plane. They stole almost all the blueprints for it and built their own. That's going on all across the defense industry so what works against Russian and Chinese built air defense systems today might not work in six months, until we improve our own stuff and the cycle begins again.

The Y20 is apparently not all that stealthy. The Indians just canceled their order for the new Russian SU 57 stealth fighter after their SU 31’s had an opportunity to run up on some Y20’s. Their SU 31’s could see and engage the Y20 so the Indians felt no need to spend huge amounts of money to counter the Y20. It is also a huge blow to the Russians losing the sales of the SU 57 both in prestige and defraying the development costs of the SU 57. The Chinese only stole some of the technology and are not very good at adapting what they’ve stolen. They still buy their engines from the Russians since they can’t figure it out for themselves.
