ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Alaska State Troopers say that they were told a Dodge pickup truck passed through barricades manned by the Alaska National Guard at Skilak Lake Loop around 8 a.m.

Troopers say an officer with US Fish and Wildlife attempted to stop the truck, but the pickup attempted to ram his patrol car. The officer was able to evade the truck and then followed it onto the Sterling Highway.

The vehicle continued for 15 miles toward Soldotna, where AST was able to deploy spike strips to stop the vehicle. But the vehicle rammed three more patrol vehicles.

Eventually, troopers disabled the vehicle with a AST Bearcat Tactical Vehicle, and then negotiated with the driver, 48-year-old Josh Lingle of Cooper Landing.

He was remanded to the Wildwood Pre Trial Facility on charges of Assault 3rd (3 counts)/Criminal Mischief 3rd (3 counts)/Failure to stop at direction of a peace officer/Reckless driving where he held without bail.

I got caught in the backup this morning, until they stsrted letting us through again. Still 12 -14 cop cars (about half unmarked) and the armored car still there when I went by..

I swear I saw Joe Biden there with his shotgun.....

I find it fascinating there would be an armored car at a forest fire. What are the troopers afraid of?

Nat guard was assisting with traffic control thru the smoke and flames. Pilot car was used each direction on a two lane Hwy. just what the guard was deployed with.

I suspect it was there as a rescue vehicle if required.

That too. They blocked Skilak Loop with one. 4 NG were injured in a NG vehicle of some sort by a drunk driver on the Spur also.

There are always the individuals with the self importance that the rules don’t apply to them. Happens at road work flag stops too.

I remember the big fire they had maybe 30 years ago? Miller's Reach? I don't have the name. Everyone who stayed with their home, saved it, everyone who did what the state said, lost their home. Maybe he wanted to save his home?

He had already come through the fire area, I think, heading for Soldotna.

I do not remember that story... The Miller's Reach fire was just over 20 years ago.
