I have quite a few, wish I had more. Can’t imagine have only four or five, Hell I have five 7 mags.

I could "get by" with a .22LR. .223 and shorty .308 Win.
But what fun would that be?

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Personally, I would probably buy somewhat bigger for elk or moose, if buying with them in mind.
Have you shot either? Elk. Had no problems. 7 and 300 mags. 308 would have done as well. Not better though. Never have shot anything and wished it had died slower.

With today's premium bullets you can certainly cover more game and hunting situations with fewer and smaller calibers Blasphemy!!!!! Who needs fewer guns and smaller bullets?
The lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part!

Only thing I'd change is the blackpowder rig. Going to 54 or 58 gets you legal about everywhere. That driven only by knucklehead bureaucrats here in CO. Are those the same knucklehead bureaucrats that say a .45 acp isn't enough gun for a black bear?

I'm going back to what Dad told me 50+ years ago. 22, 30/06 and a 12 gauge. But I'm including a 22/22mag Ruger single action, 357 Security Six and BT 99.

Yours has a battery? Mine is pull-start. I'm so ... outdated. Seriously .. it depends on whether you hunt anything bigger than deer and if you do, what sort of terrain / cover you hunt them in. For me it would be a "no." I think you need one more rifle somewhere between .300 WSM and .338 RUM, something based on the H&H case, RUM, or WSM throwing upwards of 200 grain bullets at least 2800 fps. The alternative would be a .45-70 lever action if you're a bit goofy about levers. (I can be.) If elk, moose, caribou, and bear are not on the list, just stopping at deer of various sorts and various conditions, I'd think about one more rifle that shoots a heavier bullet slower, something like 7mm-08. I'm not a velocity fan when it comes to short range woods type hunting. Messy.

I can envision a scenario in the not too distant future where my rifle battery consists of .22 lr, fast twist 22-250, 6.5 saum and .45 smokeless muzzleloader.
Am i crazy for not having a larger bore centerfire? Asked another way, where does the 6.5 saum top out in terms of effectiveness on game? I would think it is more than sufficient with the right bullet for anything in north america except big bears (which i doubt i'll ever hunt). What sayeth the campfire? I have the 22lr and a 22-250 (slow twist). Instead of a 6.5, I have a 30-06. In Idaho, you can't use smokeless powder during ML seasons and you need 50 cal for elk. You also can't use a scope or 209 primers. It's flint or percussion caps only, iron or peep sights only. They try to keep ML's at least somewhat primitive.

When I was younger, it was all about filling every nook & cranny, caliber-wise. Now, it's just a PITA.

I think that SAUM could handle everything in NA except brown bears, like you said, and I wouldn’t take it on a bison hunt. Other than that, it sounds like a good setup. Although I’m hoping you’re keeping some sort of 12ga around as well.

10/22 and a VZ-24(8x57). Both with fixed 4's...it'd be all I need.

If I was ultra pragmatic and only hunted NA I could get by with a 22lr, 223, 30-06, & 12ga.
But I am not. I have a 17 HMR, 22lr, 222, 22-250, 6.5 creed, 270, 30-06, 300 H&H, 338-06, 375 H&H, 416 Rem, and 45-70. 22lr, 44mag & 9mm pistols, 50 cal muzzleloader, 410, 20 and 12 ga shotguns.
I enjoy them all and if life gets hectic, I enjoy them when I do have time.

It’s interesting how this thread corresponds to the “Thinning the Herd” thread also running right now. I recently thinned from over 20 centerfire rifles to 4. And the truth is, I still won’t likely get to hunt with all of them this year.
So I’ll probably sell more, then buy more, then sell more...
I believe it was said best by Jeff Goldblum’s character in Jurassic Park, “I’m always on the lookout for the next ex-Mrs Malcome.”
I’m always on the lookout for the next ex hunting rifle. - Buy - Develop a load - Shoot a bunch - Sell - Rinse, wash, repeat.
Short answer, yes. That battery is sufficient. Until you get bored.
God bless America.

Although I’m hoping you’re keeping some sort of 12ga around as well. Title is Rifle Battery. Keeping over under 20, over under 12, auto 20 and auto 12. Also 9mm and 357 handguns. I’m not THAT crazy Forgot in my original thread that I also keep a Ruger PC9 under the back seat of my truck so I guess I need to add 9mm to my list above Basically my mindset is that if I don’t use it that it’s going down the road. There are a couple of sentimental family heirlooms that will stay in the back of the safe
