Agree.

We’ll see how it shoots, what it likes. I have a 3-9x40 Conquest with elevation turret ready for this gun. I have Weaver Med rings, in fact two styles to consider. Will post results.

Thanks, gunner.

Will PM for that load.

I see 4320 and RL-15 as popular 338-06 powders, also see Big Game being used.

DF,
Nice grab.

If I did not already have one with two more on the way. I would have seriously considered this package.

I have had very good luck Varget and 200-210gr bullets out of my previous 338-06 chambered rifles

My smith/FFL bud thinks this is an early Medalist before they used the aluminum chassis and I think he’s right. I recently sold a Mauser Medalist with aluminum chassis and this stock seems lighter. It’s 32 oz compared to a typical wood stock, usually 40-42 oz.

I was going to mount a 3-9x40 Conquest, but had a 2.5-10x50 Elite 4200 Firefly lying there already with med Weaver rings. It’s a triplex instead of a duplex, reticle glows after shining a light on it for a while. Heavy reticle, heavy bullets may be a good combo at dim light in the woods.

Total weight with big, heavy scope is 8#, 11 oz. Not bad.

Barrel thru Hawkeye looks good. This gun has not been shot that much. Sharp throat, clean rifling.

Look forward to working up loads.

FWIW I spoke to this guy on a local site in Maine when it first came up. Nice fella to speak with and it definitely looked like a nice rifle. Wish I was right handed! God snag DF. Let us know how it shoots. Probably hell on about everything.

Yep. OP is a good guy, easy to deal with.

Even if he’s named “buttstock”

Ha!
