https://www.gunbroker.com/item/8270392701953 Class 4 perhaps? ... or maybe the technicality of a “gogher” allows this

Yep, just a little early, especially since Winchester didn’t catalogue the 243 until 1955.

Omg, theres so much wrong with that one. The bad thing about it is some dumb azz will buy it, thinking he found a collectible treasure. GB should shut these auctions down.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

That "Prussia" seller on gunbroker has a pile of guns for sale. He has a lot of SAA for sale. He asks full retail + for his stuff.

The first thing I noticed when I finally got around to looking at the Gunbroker listing was the stock is not a Monte Carlo. According to Rule, all the rifles ordered by Gopher Shooter's Supply had MC stocks.
It seems some want to call any sightless Featherweight a "Gopher Special." I guess that is the "Gopher clause" AKwolverine is talking about? If I recall correctly what I have learned here and elsewhere, the only way to prove a "true" Gopher is a letter, receipt, or original box.
I'm sure glad I'm not a high end collector. It seems to me you really need to know your stuff, or work only with truly honest dealers, to avoid occasionally getting screwed. But I guess if you have the means to be a high end collector, you can afford to get screwed every now and then without changing your life other than wounding your pride a bit.

The “gogher” [sic] clause was just my smart ass way of saying that because he misspelled it in his listing (intentionally?) he could say a 1953 FW chambered in a cartridge not cataloged until 1955 was not mis represented as a true “gopher.” About as unlikely as this being a true GS, I’m sure!
