270 WSM and 308 Win are my pics. Although I’d probably seap the 308 for a 358 if my shoulder could handle it.
Of course, in 5-10 more years, I’ll probably have to swap the WSM for a 6.5CM to be a bit gentler on the shoulder.

I don't own a short action at all. Ban this guy, Rick. Intruder! Lol Ha Ha. I am kind of a belted magnum enthusiast, so short actions don't really float my boat. The only 2 non belted calibers I own are in 270 and 30-06.

It is hard to imagine (outside of maybe coastal brown bears) what I would feel unprepared for at reasonable ranges if all I had in my cabinet was a .223 and a 7mm-08. I’d happily hunt a coastal brown with a 7-08 if I were so inclined. It would work fine I’d imagine and I’d venture a guess that it has many times over

The 2 in my safe that see the most time in the woods are my 7-08AI and my 338 Federal. The 243AI’s, 250AI, 22-250 etc don’t get out much anymore, except to the range.
