Well he's not the biggest bull I've ever taken, but it will be a pretty hard one to top. I was trying to catch up to another bull that was bugling and this guy and a cow came in out of nowhere. The shot was about 12 feet and he only made it about 50 yards after the shot. I got him quartered and hanging in game bags that night. The next day my 9 year old son (yes he got to skip school cool) went out to retrieve the bull. The bull died pretty close to an open atv trail so we took his dirt bike an the 4 wheeler back as far as we could. It took longer to cut the blow down off the trail than pack the elk. I'm not sure who was more worn out this morning, me or the kid.

Fantastically cool my friend. Way to get him involved early, and in the right way.

My boy took his first cow when he was 12, and we also hiked/biked that one out. Got back to camp at 2 am. He slept the entire drive home the next day. He's 17 now and bigger than me. I'd give a million dollars or so to go back to the point you're at. It passes in the blink of an eye. Enjoy every minute of it.

Dave

p.s. Congrats on a fine bull with your bow.

Congratulations! Even more fun to have that young man involved on the pack out. You can tell from his smile he was proud to get to help. Well done! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Great way to get your buddy involved. Lots of smiles to go around. You’ll be packing HIS out in the not too distant future 😊

That's right, hard to top being 9 years old and skipping school with dad. Combine that with elk, 4-wheeler and motorcycling and we know he's hooked on the Good Life!

Congrats!

Skipping school to help dad pack out an elk using the dirt-bike/ATV just rocketed that young man into the center of the envy of all his friends universe.

I really like that right-side goober-antler too. Congratulations!
