Just noticed this flash deal on Whittaker's site. I have a couple of these Ruger Security 9 pistols and like them quite a bit. There's a lot of bang for the buck here. A decent capacity 9MM pistol with good ergonomics from an American manufacturer. I don't think you'll beat the price, and Whittaker's are good people.

Looking around their site and trying to compare prices with M&P's, it seems the Smith's at Whittaker's, at least those that I looked at, all had ten round mags while the M&P is a fifteen round gun in 9mm. I wonder what's up with that?

Curious. Maybe a cut & paste web designer?

They appear to have both 10 and 17rd guns. Most dealers who are on the internet do. That's so they can sell to customers in communist states. Many times, they'll overorder and have to sell the 10rd guns for less. After all, why get a 10rd G17 when you can get the much smaller G43X with the same capacity.

I took one of those apart this week at the gun shop. Damn thing surprised me. Much better put together than some very expensive guns I have looked at.

I read that when Gaston Glock wanted to market his original gun, he thought 200 bucks or so was a fair profit. He was told consumers would identify his product as "cheap", and it would not sell due to the price stigma. So Glock doubled the MSRP, and the rest is history.
SW MP 2.0 is 100 bucks less than the MP 1.0 originally sold for. I bought a new Shield 1.0 for 275, and it came with a rebate of 2 extra magazines, a loader, and two 20 round boxes of defense ammo.
Remington 1911A1 was 350 last month including a 75 dollar rebate.
Certainly is a buyers market on some guns.

I was looking because I wanted to compare the prices. For awhile you could get a Shield for about that same price or perhaps slightly less. The Shield is the slimline version of the M&P Compact. I don't know if the Compacts were ever as cheap as a Shield or if the full-size M&P's were since they'd be the best comparison.

I saw that some of their guns were Mass and some other commie state compliant and wondered if that was the case. Wondered if it was some recent deal where Smith had just capitulated without any law in place, kind of like the Hilary hole.
