I have several bricks of the old gray box power-points.... would part with them for a fair price. Would prefer a ftf in Montana. Send me a pm with your price... and no I’m not going to sell them for $20 a brick. I’ll count them, but I’m thinking I have at least 8. I just don’t shoot my 22’s as much as I use to... 17 HRM fill my current rimfire needs.Regards Mitch

found a sale at Reed's in Walker, MN on Federal Match 40 grain last week. Bought a case for $206 all in...

The original Power Points were the only 22 LR ammo my father and I ever bought, when I was growing up.

Sadly, all of our stash is gone and the newer Power Points we bought a few years ago, don't shoot nearly as well.

Thankfully, I heard good things about the RWS SSHP and picked up a couple of bricks. It shoots so well, that I picked up a few cases earlier this year for $250 each...

Nice find...

I have part of a brick left and they do shoot well... I was shooting a S&W 317 one day with Federal Bulk putting all the rounds in a 3" circle at 10 yards... Tried the PowerPoint for laughs and the group went down to a little bigger than a thumbnail...

RJM: I have a Smith & Wesson 4" Model 63 revolver that shoots the "new" (100 round 40 grain plastic packs) rather well - not much "range work" with it nowadays but I carry it a lot on Grouse and small game ventures. When in rattle snake country I load it with bird shot rounds.
Nice shooting there at 10 yards!
I am going to look up what a S&W Model 317 is - thanks for your input.

P.S.: Looked it up and I see that it now can be had in 8 shot variation and has "high-vis" sights - handsome pistol and I bet VERY useful afield.
I do not admire the lawyer lock though.
Enjoy your nifty piece!

Here are the two targets I shot with the 317 on different days... The first one was SA at 10 yards the second DA at 7 yards...16 rounds DA 8 rounds SA.

The Federal bulk ammo would all go in the circle but that is it....

As to the 317...the no- doesn't have a IL. The early ones were plain black ramp front sight and the later ones a FO dot. They can be found on GunBroker quite often.

Our best local shop has 50% off boxes with different ammo in them each week. A lot of it is old stock stuff but nothing wrong with it. I scored 4 100rd packs of cci maxi mags for 7.50 a piece. Box of 308 fed premium matchkings for 12.50, just because the box was wore around the edges. First place I look when I go in this store. I've got about all the guns I want or need now, outside of a stupid deal if I run across one, time to get the ammo supply up a notch.

RJM: Bob thanks for the links. Went there and looked at them - both have sold it seems.
And great shooting on your part!
That is a handsome pistol with great looking grips.
Enjoy.
Thanks again.

Lucky bastard! Still have a case left from my initial pre-Obama buy. His line about middle America clinging to its religion and guns set me off.

Not seen any in several years, and yes they are great performers for off the shelf ammo in two of my 22's. Competition stuff is wonderful too, but I can't do $15 a box for an 8000 round ground squirrel season.

Live long and prosper,

yea...I looked through the current auctions and there was nothing but IL guns...just wanted to show you that they were around...

If you have a GB account just do a SAVED SEARCH on Smith 317 and every day GB will send you new auctions...one will come up shortly...

My favorite ammo back in the day was PMC Predator’s. I am only 36 but my first rifle when I was 5 was a Rem 581S which was pretty much a rimfire clone of the Rem 788.

That gun would shoot 1” groups at 100 yards with that ammo. My dad stockpiled a bunch of bricks over the years but I went through it all by the time I was 14.

RJM: Thank you for that tip - I have a close friend with a gunbroker account - I am not up for them as yet.
I am returning to the estate sale where I found the Power-Points originally a couple of weekends ago - and that will be bright and early tomorrow as it is back on again.
I hope they have more.
Thanks again

Kenlguy: The estate sale is actually a father and a young adult son that are being evicted from their house (long term medical bills!) and they had to rent a storage unit and have put the smaller items (bullets, powder, primers etc) in the storage unit.
I bought 2,000 Federal Large Rifle Primers from them for $15.00 per one thousand before they got stowed away!
I am just sad for the two of them as they are (were) dedicated gun nut types but have fallen on hard times.
I hope they sell all their MANY thousands of primers before winter hits as the storage unit is not heated.
I don't know what the below zero temperatures will do to the powders? I think it would do no GOOD for the primers!
Anyway the ammo got stored and may have access to it later.
No luck on more as yet.

My experience with the gray box Power Point ammo mirrors others. It shoots well and it sure smacks squirrels. I have a hoard from years ago. It is my hunting ammo.
