Are there options other than the Talley lightweights for mounting a scope on a Forbes? I have googled it but didn't come up with anything. Thanks for any input.

I'm pretty sure you are incorrect. The Forbes shares the same footprint as an ULA/NULA. To the OP, try Mace Sports, they may have a rail mount available as it was offered for the Forbes Rifles and I believe they still have some of them for sale. I wish there was just a simple Weaver style base set up for the Forbes but I have not found one.
Good luck LB and let us know if you find some other options.

I’ve owned 2 NULA’s and a Forbes, I’m pretty sure Melvin told me he made the NULA so that it would share the same scope mounting contour as the Remington 700 because it’s the most popular action made. I could be mistaken, but I’m almost positive that’s what he had told me. A quick call to Melvin tomorrow would clear it up I’m sure.

Me too.

Talley does (or did) also make a pic rail that would fit ...

No the action diameter is smaller than a 700. I am only familiar with the Talleys and the S&K and since I like both I have not looked further.

Dang, I was sure that Melvin said they would fit. I guess it would be a good idea to him a call, he’s easy to talk to.

Talley makes a picatinny base for the NULA which shares the same base fit as the Forbes: PIck the one you need here:

I have a picatinny rail for a model 20 if that would help. It will take any picatinny and most weaver style rings. I believe it has 20 MOA bult in but would have to check it may be level. It was made by Barret and is parkerized. Barret may still make them, I am not sure if the field craft rings are compatible with the Forbs but worth a call or Email.

Mine may be a Talley not sure no markings.

There are also the Talley steel 2 pc rings and bases. I have them on a Colt Light Rifle (same as Forbes and NULA) and they work great.

I believe this is the setup John (mule deer) uses on his nula with nf shv. He recently posted a picture of it.

Tejano , thanks for the offer but my rifle is a 24. I will probably just order the rail from the link above.

That rail is going to be super high. It's thick!

Pic rail is actually not too bad with Seekins Lows. This on a Fieldcraft (same/same).

257 Looks good, still high for my tastes but it is just right for a rifle with a can so that your field of view is not reduced as much on low power.

Yes, the rail is thick/high in the way it's built but like 257heaven, I run it with Seekins lows and the only time I really wish it was lower was when I'm shooting prone.

Running Talley rails on other rifles with different stocks and it's been more of an issue for me but not so on the NULA/Forbes/Fieldcraft rifles.
