Colorado Wildfire: The Decker Fire... There is a wildfire burning 2 miles south of Salida in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness, 5,348 acres burned, 5% contained, see the link for more info:

There is also a small fire burning near Crater Lake In the Maroon Bells Snowmass Wilderness. Fire crews and helicopter are there.

My kid is fighting the Decker fire. He has sent some good pics. They are holding a line at 9000 feet, that takes five hours of hiking to get to. Today is a critical, red-flag day, so we will see. They are keeping it away from Salida and snow is suppose to come on Thursday. 5 percent humidity does not make for good fire control and they are freezing their butts off at night.

Those guys are tough as nails and don't get nearly the accolades that they deserve.

If some of those areas where the spruce beetles have killed 75% of the spruces catch fire, there will be no putting them out. There is way too much fuel.
