Will a Walker trigger from a 1984 Remington 700BDL fit a current model 700CDL with X-mark Pro trigger?

That's what I was thinking before I got to your post.

I prefer the Walker trigger to either of the xmark versions. Suffered through times when I converted to Timney, Jewell, Shilen, and even tried Rifle Basix. The good thing about the custom triggers is that they hold their value well and are easy to sell. All my hunting rifles now have Walker triggers.

If I had a spare Walker trigger, I’d use it to replace an Xmark too. I don’t like having that little screw sticking out of the face of the trigger plus I see the hole through the trigger as a weak spot. YMMV.

I would prefer a good aftermarket trigger which can be lighter, smoother, less creep, fewer potential safety issues all with no tinkering. The OP feels otherwise, which is perfectly fine. Just wondring if he considered that, guess he did.

There will never be another Walker trigger in my gunsafe. No amount of howling and shrieking will ever convince me that the design is truly safe after having studied the problems with it. It is an inherently unsafe design.

Remington has really prospered since they let attorneys rather than Mike Walker design their triggers.

Remington should never have paid off the woman that shot and killed her son through a horse trailer. Unsafe gun handling and a claim of the trigger failing which was never replicated should not have stood in court.

And I will leave out the hot chamber argument.

I much prefer the Walker trigger over any XMark-Pro. But, I've put a couple of trigger springs from Ernie the Gunsmith in the XMark triggers, and turned them from crap to good. That is the only way I'll leave one on a rifle. I've also put several Timney triggers in rifles as replacements for the XMark-Pro. I also have several rifles with the Walker triggers, and have never had an issue with one.

All my x marks and most of my walkers now say triggertech on the side.

But even the Walker (properly maintained and not "adjusted" by idiots) is better than that pos X-Mark.. However, YMMV...

This. Last Walker I botched up went in the trash as even my gun smith could not fix it. I think that Remington cheapened up the Walker somehow and then it became unreliable. I can tell the screws are softer in the later models and no telling what else was compromised. I also have manged to screw up Jewells so now the switch to TT triggers. Jewells are great until they get full of sugar sand.
