Considering getting a scope with an illuminated reticle of some type. Mainly to help seeing cross hair or dot in fading light with dark backrounds. Looking to stay under $400 and preferably under $300. What say you???

That’s really tough in that price range. Maybe Primary Arms?

That Burris E1 4A illuminated has been flawless for me thus far. Good illum and reticle for hunting. Still not decided I’d take it over a used VX-R (to get in your $ range), but I use it....which is saying I like it enough that it gets out a lot and isn’t just window dressing for the safe.

a touch outta your price range but dougs burris 3-12x56 is about as cheap decent illum i'd try. anything less and i'm afraid you will be frustrated with the glass and illumination.
good luck,
Big Ed

Freaking bargain for the entry fee that was IIRC just a bit over two bills. I wish they'd discontinue more!.

EASY EYE BOX on this. I did a big scope swap around and this one really stands out.

This one checks a lot of your boxes:

Dot? Yup, and it's of a nice size, too. Brightness adjustments cover from near total black to full daylight.

Last light? Yup. The brightness & clarity of the glass hangs with some rather impressive scopes.

Under $300? Yup.

Now, there are plenty of Hawke fans, too. Accordingly, a good move is to call Doug & see which way he'd point you to go.

Good Luck,

FC

Hawke does a pretty good job incorporating illuminated reticles into moderately priced scopes.
I'd probably take a look there. I think Doug carries them.

With Burris/Steiner illuminated scopes are usually a little more expensive.

I'd call him up and see what he can do for you on one of the Hawke Frontier or Endurance scopes.

+1 on the discontinued Hawkes. I really like the LR Dot in the 8x56. Of the four on hand, not one has given me any trouble, "Chinese Crap" or not.

Someday, I might even pay full price for one, high praise coming from an old cheapskate like me.
