River-Ridge,
THANK YOU.
I hope to find a 7600P carbine at a "decent" rather than "scalper's" price. = One of our members told me of a NEW 7600P that is quoted for OVER 200.oo MORE than MSRP by a vendor but W/O the "usually furnished" factory hard-case. = That is "highway robbery", imo, as a case is priced at retail for 129.oo at retail..
A 7.62NATO caliber Carbine in "good used or better" condition will be FINE with me, as it will be a "PU-rifle". = Truck guns get 'beat up", cosmetically, over time.

I think I might know where one is for sale, so when I find out for sure, I can find your post again quickly. I should know within a day or so.

Any idea on the price??? I was looking for one a month ago....same thing...wasn't paying for the one on GB lol.
When the market was flooded they struggled to bring $500 new. Like anything else now its a "collector" lol.
Ended up with the whelen carbine...which I'm not disappointed about...

Mauser06,
One new carbine for 670.oo & a "VB or better" used one for 700..oo - TOO RICH for my blood, given that the MSRP was about 425.oo.
UNLESS everything is a "collector's item", the little police carbines are NOT "collectable". = The ONLY people, who I personally know who want one, are us "wrong-handed folks" & woods hunters from PA. = The little carbines are "LH friendly", powerful enough for most US big game out to 200M plus & very compact at 38" long. (Btw, the REPORT from that 16.5" barrel is HORRID with "full-power" ammo. = GOOD QUALITY ear-muffs are NECESSARY to preserve your hearing.)
yours, tex

Incredible lol.....
But ya, that's exactly what's going on. They are a limited production gun...when they are on the market they sell pretty reasonable. When the market is dry, the gougers come out.
I will stick with my whelen carbine. I'm sure that sucker is gunna bark...and hammer on both ends lol. I put a wood stock on it and a Williams WGRS ghost ring. Will make a dandy little bad weather tracking and still hunting rifle.

Would you loan money for free for 15 years? Inflation at 3% for 15 years I would at least like my money back at todays value, I dont call that gouging! Just my thoughts.

Mauser06,
The 7600P was NOT a "limited production" firearm. Instead it was a FLOP as an item that was for sale. = A friend, who works at Remington, said that "The company lost our toucas" on the carbines.
As he said, "HOW could Remington know that the police agencies would be FLOODED with M16 rifles & M4 Carbines for 100.oo each or less?".= Those CHEAP (or sometimes FREE) rifles/carbines DOOMED ever making a profit on the police carbines. (The SD in my home county received six M16 rifles, of the 1970s era for FREE, after the sheriff told the US government representative that the department couldn't even afford 100.oo each. - Further, each of the 3 Constables & the county's animal control office were "issued" a M16 each, W/O cost.)
Note: I "heard" but cannot confirm that the 3 local Lake Patrols (YES the officers of the lake patrols are sworn TX LEOs.) also received FREE M16 rifles, on the basis of one rifle per patrol boat.
yours, tex

kk alaska,
What makes you think that the FFL dealers owned the carbines for 15 years?? = The "price gouger" that I talked to last week has owned the 2 carbines for less than 60 days & bought both from police departments that wanted to dispose of them. (Fwiw, the Model 7615, that I bought, was one of five carbines sold by a Texas police department to a FFL in Austin for 150.oo each. = None of the 5 had been fired. - Managers bought 4 of the carbines & I bought the last one.) .
Btw, Remington still had NIB carbines in a warehouse, in BOTH 5.56NATO & in 7.62NATO, about a YEAR ago. = I was told that the last ones were essentially GIVEN AWAY "for peanuts", to get them out of the inventory. (I bought the last of the new, in factory plastic packaging, 5.56NATO magazines in Summer 2018. = The company was glad to sell them CHEAP. = I kept 4 each magazines & gave the other mags away to friends/family, who had 7615 carbines, at Christmas.)
As members here have likely guessed, I'm a dedicated hunter of the TX brush country & a "wrong-handed guy", too. = As of tonight, I have at least one Model 760/7600 in every caliber except. .244REM,.257Roberts & 7x57mm, including a 9.3x62mm rifle that JES re-bored for me .= I really like the pump-rifles & carbines. (I used to own a .244 but gave it to my niece, as she borrowed it constantly. - Finally, I told "Tara" to keep it. - She is DEADLY with it, too.)
yours, tex
