subtitled 'The Memoirs of Erich Kempka'.

Kempka was initially Hitler's second chauffeur starting in 1932 but with the death of the first chauffeur became Hitler's primary personal chauffeur and served him from 1932 to 1945. In this short book he describes quite a few of his experiences, like driving Hitler to political meetings and speeches and accompanying Hitler just about everywhere. The book was originally titled in 1950 in German "I Cremated Adolf Hitler" and translated and printed in England. It has been considered one of three books about Hitler from people who knew him well and these three books, it was noted in the Introduction, might be considered the "Household Series".

Kempka describes the cremation of Hitler and Eva Braun where he was to bring 200 liters of petrol the the bunker, which he and his men scrounged from cars, and took to the bunker and describes how the cremation was performed. Later the remaining bones were buried. Kempka's harrowing escape from Berlin is described and his experiences in Nurnberg at the trials and in the camps are discussed.

There are three appendices written by others which add to the information.

This is an interesting book if you have an interest in personal stories from World War 2. Or if you wish to find out a bit more about Hitler and some of the people around him. For example, Bormann was the guy you probably thought he was.
