Any updates from those in the know on Barrett doing a LH version of the Fieldcraft?
Seeing Brad's gun for sale last night got me wondering about these again......

Not a Barrett. But spotted this in GB yesterday. Might scratch the itch until if/when Barret decides to do a Southpaw. LH Forbes on GB...

Having owned both a LH Forbes, and a RH Kimber Ascent, what I would buy in a heart beat would be a LH Kimber Ascent. In any chambering from .243 Win up to .270 Win. 6.5CM even.

Kimber has no love for left hand shooters and said they would never make a left hand rifle.

Kimber has no love for left hand shooters and said they would never make a left hand rifle. Have heard that, which is a bummer. However, would suit me well if they were to ever change they minds. At one point I contemplated fitting the Ascent stock to the Forbes barreled action. But chickened out after pulling them both apart and checking dimensions. Two totally different foot prints. Did not have confidence that I could pull it off without destroying the Ascent stock.

So what's everyone's honest opinion on these Forbes rifles. By the way, I openly admit I love the .270 Winchester lol!!!!

My Forbes will never be sold. I've killed a boat load of game with the .308 in just a few short years.
For the $900 paid, it's a great rifle.

I've never owned a Forbes rifle but have always wanted one. The 270 on gunbroker looks pretty good to me.

I've never owned a Forbes rifle but have always wanted one. The 270 on gunbroker looks pretty good to me. Been watching the same rifle. Interestingly, the rifle has been re-listed. Price went UP $100. Picture changed from a black barrel rifle with a scope to a stainless barrel rifle without a scope. Also, new rifle has a significantly larger divot in the stock for the safety cutout than the previous rifle. Verbiage still exactly the same. But totally different rifle... Kinda tempting at $1100. Not so much at $1200.

I haven't looked at it for a couple of days so I missed the changes. I'll check it out.

There's enough wackiness going on in that auction to keep me from bidding..............even if I really wanted it. Which I don't.

It looks like mace sporting goods is the listing agent of these items so I wouldn’t be concerned about anything. They bought all the Forbes rifles that Barrett didn’t sale. Last time I checked they had quit a few left hand Forbes rifles in stock. I bought a left hand 20b in 7mm-08 from them 8 months ago and the transaction was very smooth. My guess is they just listed 2 different guns. One with a stainless barrel (with the higher price) and one with parkerized barrel. I assume the scope was just mounted for looks since it wasn’t included in the auction.
On another note I currently own 2 Forbes rifles (and one NULA), the above mentioned 7mm-08 and a 30-06. I consider them phenomenal values at what they are going for. The 30-06 is easily the most accurate hunting gun I have ever owned. If for some horrible reason I could only own one rifle it would be the one!
Haven’t shot the 7mm-8 yet. I fitted a field craft aluminum bolt shroud and flip flop pad. Current weight with a swfa ultralite scope is 5 pounds 9.5 ounces. I’m pretty pumped to see how the little gun shoots

Some of the rifles had issues but none that couldn't be fixed easily. My 6.5x55 is one of my go to rifles and I usually don't care for synthetic stocks. I am also glad I snagged a Colt light rifle when they were on clearance. I think I spent more on a NULA stock than I did on the rifle.

Are the ergonomics of the NULA stocks any different than the Forbes stocks? eg: more rounded? Or, same-same?

The blanks feel pretty damn similar to me, the paint and finish are obviously much finer on the NULA. Melvin's paint finish (sheen) is very flat and has great 'grip' to it, too.
