Never thought of that! You'd think that any firearm intentionally destroyed as opposed to being sold by a dealer would require proof of destruction to the BATFE.
The was a gun shop in Altoona years ago that was forced out of business because a few guns went out the back door.

Hmmm...well, they can’t write it off and they can’t claim it as a loss for insurance purposes.

I read on another forum that there was a cube van trolling Dick's parking lot with a sign painted on the side...."AR-15 Rifles for sale". I'd be pissed if I was a stock holder and that numbnuts had 5 million bucks worth of inventory destroyed. What a lying tool that CEO is.

Best thing he could have done. Hope they buy and destroy 5 million more. Please remember that they bought and paid for these prior.

Thanks dick from dicks for supporting our gun makers!

PS enjoy being out of business soon

Nope, it would be at cost and only if they were somehow defective... that is not a legitimate cost of doing business.

Sounds like a reasonable thing to do.....but remember libs hate cops. Dicks is hoping to pull libs away from Academy with this stunt. They will be gone in 2 years. Out of business.

Needless to say they will not be seeing me returning as a customer.
Sad and pathetic.

This is a Washington Times article. Down the page is another article : Best new handguns for 2019. Their top 12, and not a single one has an orange tip.

If I was a stock holder, I'd be selling that junk ASAP. Just the idea of a CEO bragging about this would be enough even if it didn't happen. Brick and mortar stores around the country as struggling and this is going to help how?

They bought $5M worth of AR’s....that’s $5M that flowed from the manufacturers, through the workers hands, distribution centers, truck drivers, etc.

There’s enough market demand that Dicks ordered $5M worth. Demand is still there, manufacturers are still there.

Dick’s dropped their piece of the pie on the floor and there’s another in the oven.

Bought a pair of sneakers there a couple of years ago. I'd never think of stepping inside one again, though.

Sounds like valuation may be just a bit high or a hoax.
Wonder if someone can prove destruction of any ARs by Dicks?

Let's see if they claim a loss on taxes/stockholder report.

I don't think you can claim a loss on something you intentionally destroy.

Destroy $5M in rifles, lose $25M in sales.
