OP did ya buy it or what.
400 is a steal if mechanically sound and the bore is good.
As long as it aint been cosmetically bubbafied outragously.

Lots of good things can be done to it to make it a handsome rifle.

Plenty of sources for parts.

If its in good condition cosmetically and mehanically sound with a good bore.
Buy it and hunt it.

I ran into a 76 1895 45-70 22inch barrel half tube recently
They wanted top dollar price of 675.
Offered em 450.
Told em gun been molested hard
They didnt know what molested meant...........
Started explaining stuff to em.
Stock been cut, pachmeyer pad added rather poorly.
Forearm severly mismatched to tone of buttstock could see foreend cap screws all buggered up
Front and rear sight missing
Receiver sight filler screws missing
Obviously scope base filler screws also.
Had some craptastic scope on it i told em they could keep and sell.
No telling what top of receiver looked like under it.

How ever it was mechanically sound and bore was VG
As was metal finish.

I coulda put 100 to 150 into it with parts and got that gun back to its original condition.

Rather have a 444 anyways...
