Wrote this out, but didn't want to derail the Florida is Conquered thread.


Many locals moved to the South for work, especially construction. The
word was always that we were welcomed on jobs due to work ethic.
Personally witnessed this once.

They have been losing those jobs and businesses they started to Mexicans.


First it was Blacks, and they were hated.
Then Yankees, and they were hated.
Now, Mexicans....

Why can't Southerners do their own work?
And why do they hate the people that build their buildings,
pick their crops, feed them, and generally do their hard work.

Also, unions are despised in the South.
Is that because Unions are a way workers can demand more
from the master?


This popped in my head as a joke. But, as I wrote, it became
a serious question.

I'm not pointing fingers at individuals. Everyone is a man unto himself.
But, in a vague generality.

My big question is who has the intellectual depth to consider the premise,
And give an decent answer. To a somewhat loaded question.



And I already know what an a-holes I am.

Got six mexicans at my house now doing some waterproofing. I certainly didn't want to do it.

What a conundrum. Too many here don't want to pay Union rates yet don't want Messicans on the job either. And then want the best price they can get. How does anything get done or do they just look the other way, for now?

Apparently, the Southern white man (at least those on 24hrcryfire) is too busy - cleaning his "assault rifle" and preparing for his heroship/martyrdom in the reengagement of the civil war that continues to rage on his mind (only) all of his life - clean his pool, waterproof his house, etc.

The groids got uppity and left the plantations when they figured out they could breed like rabbits and trade their votes for food, booze, and public housing. Now it's the wetbacks' turn to do the same thing. Damyankees- - - - -they've been the real problem for a couple of hundred years. Closing the hunting season in 1865 was a mistake!

In the text, one was a reference to a group standing together
to make gains for the group.


The other was a reference to judging individuals by their groups,
instead of by their own merits and deficiencies.

Excellent point, Richard. The fact that the first is more important than the second to so many people makes me reluctant to visit many interesting parts of the country.

worked as a union worker for 45 years ,some things the union did help,but i seen some very poor workers that kept their jobs only because they belonged to the union too that should have been fired.the other part is politics the unions all wanted us to vote demorats, and that was just stupid who wanted Obama or Hilihag ? best thing that ever happen in politics was Donald Trump elected as President by working people of America. now just watch how the Union will want Union workers to vote against President Trump .we need that southern border up and when that`s done start on the north border next its time to save our way of life .so we need President Trump for another 4 great years, not what the Union wants workers to vote demorats !

Ok, another go at your premise considering unions. The South has historically embraced individuality. The Revolutionary War did not have much support on either side south of Virginia- until the Brits committed war crimes at Waxhaws. This enraged locals and led to the Patriot victory at King’s Mountain and the successive battles that led to independence. The Civil War was also in response to an overreaching Federal government. Unions are sen as an extension of outside interference. The majority want to represent themselves and view unions as corrupt and/or socialistic.
