I have a box of Federal Match Large Pistol Primers that I want to use to load .44 Mag/.44 Spl. I have Lee equipment and have heard that Lee does not recommend using Federal primers. I contacted Lee and they confirmed this. What has been your experience with them? Seems odd to me that Federal would produce dangerous primers and also seems odd that Lee would claim their priming tool was dangerous when loading Federals. I have primed large quantities of brass with CCI, Winchester, and RWS primers with no issues using Lee priming tools.

I probably put 30K through a couple of Lee presses, squashed plenty but never detonated one.

Somebody recently had an RCBS priming tool detonate with Federal primers. Lost part of his hand if I recall the details.
