I've had it with 1/2 tons and have been looking for a nice 3/4 ton for over a year. They always have a huge amount of miles or they are outrageously over priced to the point where you may as well buy a new one. I finely found a truck that fits what I'm looking for at what I feel is a very good price. It's a 1 ton but I can live with that. Private party sale, original owner. Retired guy only used it to pull his 5th wheel camper trailer. I know the guy and he has babied this thing. 2007 Dodge Ram Laramie 3500 4wd loaded with everything. 144k on the odometer 5.9 Cummins Bed cover with 5th wheel hitch Under 20k cash
Is there anything I should be concerned about with this year truck and the engine/trans? I hear that the 5.9 is a darn good engine. I've heard about the front end problems with the Ram 2500 & 3500 trucks but heck, I had to totaly go though the front end of my 1500 Ram at 130k I'm retiring soon and my plan is to put a Arctic Fox camper on it and haul my fishing or duck boats and pull a trailer with firewood.

Had to put a water pump at 100,000 miles. Rebuild front end at 140,000. Other than that, not a damn thing. Mine is 2004. 192,000. Brakes, service fluids, tires, usual things. It’s working on being the best truck I’ve ever owned. Bought a 2018, but kept the 2004 to drive to work.
The motor in the one you are looking at is just now getting broke in.
Buy that one before someone else does!!!

I love the look of this truck and don't want a pretty face to distract me of impotent things. Black on black, tinted windows with badging delete. The only thing on it is the Cummins badge on the front fenders. Killer stereo too He let me take it for a good drive. Alone. I put it through the paces lol, runs and drives great. I'm keeping my 1/2 ton for regular stuff. Probably put a plow on it in the winters.

That's a not a bad year. Things that have or probably will have happen are the front end, steering box, transmission.
Used price is insane on those IMO.

I have nothing positive to say about Chrysler anything. I deal with Hot Shot delivery drivers every day. Those that started with Dodge got rid of them long ago. Ford, Chevrolet & Toyota in that order.

I have an '06 2500 Bighorn diesel I bought new and now have 158,000 on it - I wouldn't sell it for under $20k. I believe they made some changes in the '07 models due to increased emissions regulations and gave the Cummins a bump in power to compensate for it. It does sound a like a good price for that truck...

I would take that one in a heartbeat. The 08 model year introduced some very nasty emissions crap that should be avoided at all costs. I have an '08 Ford, but I deleted all that crap like the DOC, DPF, and my tuner turned off the EGR. I can get away with it because I have a DOT number and register it as a commercial truck the same as my semis, so no emissions tests.

True and I believe the '06 and '07 5.9's are the best ones to get before they started screwing around with all the exhaust emission crap with the 6.7's. They are very desirable commodity around here, and command high resale values. I have a '06 3500 single rear wheel with a 6 speed manual transmission that just turned over 100k that I had since new. I will keep it without any desire to buy a newer one. It does everything I need it to do with good power and economy. I say grab it.

Unless you're hauling a load, you'll find that the 3500 is a very stiff ride. It'll give you some jolts. The only difference between the 2500 and the 3500 is the springs. If you find that it's too stiff, you can probably take out a spring leaf and you'll have a 3/4 ton ride. This is an early '07. At mid year, they switched to the 6.7 with all the pollution crap. It's also an excellent engine but you have to play the EPA game.

The front end issues usually, stem from the crappy track-bar, get a good aftermarket and it will save yourself a lot of headache. You may also, want to get a new injector harness, as they tend to get brittle and crack, causing all kinds of funky issues.

Oh Hell No! I have 4 co-workers waiting to buy my 99 F250 7.3. I told them, even if I considered selling it, it is worth $18,000 to me. They all responded the same, “just let me know when.” But, I love my truck. It is the best tool I own.

Before we bought it, we test drove an identical 3500. It was a LOT stiffer.
