Does anyone know where I can find any 7-30 Waters Federal Premium 120 gr BTSP Ammo? I can find 120 gr flat point ammo but not the spire point.

https://www.natchezss.com/federal-p...-waters-120-gr-btsp-2700-fps-20-box.html

Natchez carries it but there out of stock.

Thanks

Tracy

Try ammoseek. Seems to be available from several sources if I read the ad correctly.

Ain't gonna be a spire point, I'm thinking. Tubular magazines, don't ya know? Boattails can be on FPs too.

Lack of ammo and components caused me to pass on a near-perfect 94 carbine some years back, a mistake.

No such thing as a spire point factory load. The one load is indeed a boattailed flat soft point. Looks like Hornady might see the benefit of doing a LeverEvolution Waters load, since most 7-30 ammo is used by T/C shooters anyway. It's more popular than the .307 and they load it.

The photo shown is a stock photo of any generic Sierra BTSP bullet. The box does not show the cartridge designation and it's the same photo used in any other listing for other cartridges loaded with a Sierra BTSP, such as this one:
https://www.natchezss.com/federal-p...06-sprg-165-gr-btsp-2800-fps-20-box.html

The folks that put these websites together aren't necessarily gun people. I'm sure they aren't knowingly misleading anybody, but if this ammo was in stock and you ordered it, I'm sure you'd be disappointed when you opened the box.

I've been in the gun business since 1986 and am a 7-30 Waters shooter myself (Winchester 94). I assure you there is no POINTED factory ammo. Call Federal themselves and ask. Since the cartridge was designed for a tubular lever gun, such a load with a pointed hard lead tip would not be safe, hence the Hornady LeverEvolution concept. Just trying to save you some grief in tracking down a pink unicorn.

Also available directly from Federal at the link I posted above. $33.95+$12.00 shipping. Two boxes were still $12.00.

If you can't find it elsewhere, I'd not dawdle.

Yep, unfortunately the phone people at most of those places have no clue about any actual details. They are at the mercy of the info that pops up on their computer screens and if their picture shows a pointed bullet, they'd naturally assume it is correct.

If/when Federal gets their Custom Shop going that would be the route to take. If you are handloading adverse.

Found out the 120 gr 7-30 Waters ammo was a typo showing a spire point bullet, they only make it in a flat point. Also others had told me the same.....

Well, well, well....They finally heard me! I personally am good with the flat points, but with all the Contenders out there, the FTX was a no-brainer.
