Any one figured out a 1” tube, 16 oz max weight, with reliable dials yet? I’m not talking tactical and or competitive demands with repeated dialing over and over, I’m talking normal hunting use.
No BS and no bashing please (if that’s even possible). Just wondering if there’s anything new out that ticks these boxes.

Live a little and spend the 3 extra ounces for a SS 3-9.

The 3-9x42 hd? Too tactical. I want a regular duplex reticle.

Leupold M8 6x42 M1. Old skool. Just go back in the 24 HCF time machine and everybody loved them.

What’s it going on? If you can live with a little less ER, the SWFA SS ultralight.

Without opening a can of worms (let’s not go there!) and I’m not mentioning brands, but just looking purely at the specs of the matter, something like a 3.5-10x40 with reliable dials is exactly what I’m looking for. Cost is a distant secondary concern.

16 oz is pretty much a non-starter. I’d be looking at the Nightforce NXS compact. Tract Toric might be another.

NXS will be a 30 mm; not sure how wedded OP is to his specified 1” tube.

Yeah, 30mm is just unnecessary. I dont need to dial to 1200 yards and don’t want the weight.

Not opposed to installing an aftermarket turret if the erector guts are worthy.

So you want a vx3 3.5-10x40 that has bomber tracking, rtz, holds zero ... and doesn’t have a known failure rate - lurking like an evil elf - in the recesses of your mind.
Me too.

Me too. Haha! Yeah exactly. I just don’t understand why it’s not available, at any price even! Doesn’t make sense to me.

The 3-9x42 hd? Too tactical. I want a regular duplex reticle. You’ll like that reticle when the animal you want steps out at 400 yds. The mil dot reticle is simple and easy.

Didn't Weaver make a 3.5-10x40mm scope, maybe called the Tactical, that was 1" tube, fairly lightweight, and really reliable? Seems like the turrets resembled those on the Bushnell Elite Tactical series, which are extremely repeatable.

I had one of those. It sucked. Crappy glass and it wouldn't track.

No BS and no bashing please (if that’s even possible). Just wondering if there’s anything new out that ticks these boxes. Does not exist. And the idea that a scope will work for “hunting” dialing but not be built for tactical or competitive demands is incorrect. If a scope will work for dialing ten times, then it is a scope built to dial a thousand times. To dial correctly a scope must be designed and built for it. There is no way around this. The 3-9x42 hd? Too tactical. I want a regular duplex reticle. So it’s a “look” thing? The MQ reticle can be used as a duplex without issue. Then you have the benefit of actually being able to hold for wind instead of guessing.

Aesthetics play a secondary role. I want a clean and uncluttered crosshair that is brainless.

This scope meets almost all of your stated requirements. 1” tube 17 ounces (did not meet 16) Simple reticle Clean lines for a hunting rifle https://cameralandny.com/shop/schmi...110c0?variation=1117398&query=SummitSo you can’t say it doesn’t exist. As for dialing, only scopes that are designed for more rounds than most shoot are set up for dialing. Those are pretty much all tactical scopes. Clean lines + lightish weight + simple reticle = set and forget
